redroom
I received my Asian SFSO (White face) last weekend from Silix. Overall, very, very pleased with it. It's my first rep and it really exceeded all of my expectations. But now that I've had it for a few days the fact that it doesn't have AR is starting to bug me. Not in a functional way, but just knowing that anyone who knew about the watch could detect it as a rep in a second because of the lack of AR. Has anyone given their SFSO crystal to the guy that is advertising AR-coating here? How is the result compared to the Gen? What are my other options? Can I order a genuine crystal from anywhere? Is there a tutorial on how to remove the crystal? Is it something I can do myself without too much risk? Are there steps anywhere on the site? I've looked but couldn't find any. The other thing that bothers me a bit is the lume. On the 11th hour mark the lume is applied a bit sloppy and it actually can be seen by the naked-eye. Probably not to the casual-viewer but certaintly by me Also the lume just doesn't last long. I charge it under a bright light for a few minutes, and it shines really brightly for few minutes, but within about 20 minutes or so it just doesn't shine. I know this is normal for reps, so I don't blame it as a defect, just cheaper manufacturing process. How much does it cost to get a lum-job done by The Zigmeister? And has anyone ever had a SFSO done? All in all I'm happy with the watch, the AR is the only thing thats really bothering me, but I just didn't think that the Swiss was worth almost 3X the price of the Asian. I was also very happy with the service, contact and overall experience with Silix. He sent me a great bonus watch (his sale) it's a TAG Carrera (4 subdial, cream face, with black leather strap). The watch is nice for what it is, but to me it also is a bit of an obvious rep. Regardless, I've already received a couple compliments on it
dluddy
I have not had the SFSO AR'd as I bought the ETA with AR but I have had a number of other crystals AR'd through Chief and I highly recommend the coating. I did, however, have my SFSO re-lumed by Ziggy and it came out fantastic. Please deal directly with Ziggy on details such as pricing. Do them both and you will not be sorry - or look for a member trade on the ETA version already AR'd.
FxrAndy
You might be just as well getting a swiss SFSO as by the time you have bought a better crystal you would be at least haslf the price of the swiss and then with a relume then well over the cost of the swiss, i am not saying the the lume is perfect on the swiss but it is ok but that AR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
millemiglia
Isn't it more pricy to have the cristal ARed and the dial re-lumed than directly buying the Swiss? (and you end up with the "not so long lasting" asian movement anyway... ) there are also the shipping cost toward the modder and backward which are all to be payed by the customer... Think it was 55$ + shipping. I'd like to see how it compares to the Gen AR. Anyways, since I got the white asian the lack of AR isn't that apparent. I think I'll be going for the black/blue Swiss SFSO.
