With mods or without?

I'd say get a 3717 as it's a damned good watch as well as being a good replica.

3717 without mods:

3717 with gen ETA datewheels:

What mods are needed in the 3717?

Do I dare mention the Cousteau Diver? I don't know about the 2007 but the 2006 rates high in my book.

A day/datewheel change is advised although without is acceptable as well.

As you might of ascertained, IWC reps in general are mostly GREAT reps.

It is really your taste in watches that should help make the decision.

Additionally, the type of movement in the various reps is also important. The eta movement in the IGGY is pretty damned reliable, while the 7750 in the Cousteau and in the 3717 can be more problematic (or not).

Swapping the asian 7750 for a 'swiss' can help but is more expensive and involves watchsmithing.

On the other hand...the 3717 is without a doubt the 'best' unmodded chrono available IMHO.

hands down the cousteau diver. this one is easy...atleast in my opinion. either the 06 or 07 version. by far the most "genuine" feeling rep i own.

I agree with Pugwash. Owning all of the above mentioned IWCs, the closest to gen (in my humble opinion) and the best mod platform is the 3717 Pilot Chrono.

With datewheels, lum and double (some say, triple) AR, I would classify it as indistinguishable from gen (except by an IWC WM)

Thanks for your suggestions. I am now leaning towards the 3717 Pilot Chrono. However, I have some concerns:

1. What movement is the best for this rep?

2. Where can I have this rep completely modded?

And of course, how much will it cost me for all of the above mods?
