pfff
i've seen this 1680 dial for sale on a forum, but i'm not sure if it's real, especially the L of the rolex seems to be really off ?? i need the knowledge of the kings of vintage thanks so much for your help
docblackrock
Oh it's real all right. The misaligned L though is often an indicator of a redial, not always mind but often
pfff
woo that was fast , thanks and do you think 400$ shipped is a fair price for this dial ?
1665fan
LOOOOOOOOOOOOL The L is not the only problem!! Look at the depth rating!! It's 1000ft = 300m!! At a 1680?? :D You need a 660 ft = 200m dial!! Forget the one above for a 1680!
pfff
you're totally right, in fact its a 16800 dial ! the dial i bought is this : its definitely much better
1665fan
Ok, that one is much better, I think it's a genuine one. But it has some damage at the edges, I hope for you that you have some possibility's to repair it!

I did not pick him up on the 1680 reference, assumed he'd just left a 0 off by mistake - clearly he's asking about the QUALITY of the dial. As a transitional 16800 redial though it's not a bad example - but not worth 400usd nowhere near, a third of that at best.

But it was only funny to read his question about the L on a 1680 dial with 1000ft!! Referring to you I think you are totally right! The dial is not bad, but I think it would be possible to do some betters! Why aren't those who make these dials not able to look at a genuine one and make a good replica of those? It couldn't be so difficult, isn't it? Regards Chris
UB7
It's not the L thats off, its the O...I used to be part of TRF and they are crazy about making this distinction...That dial has what is known as a "lazy O" - Apparently they are more rare than the normal dials
