PO with 2836-2

Did anyone ever sell one of these? I bought this one from a member, it is black/orange, 45mm, has the serial no. on the lugs but I don't think the bezel is made like the UPO we know. The pearl is missing so I can see behind the insert and it looks like the pearl would be part of the insert not the bezel. The movement is stamped 2836-2 but it could be a chinese copy for all I know. I remember The Zigmeister discussing that a little while back. The watch however keeps good time and has the normal flaws, the feet on the logo and the date window doesn't seem "correct". Also the font seems to differ from my UPO.

The PO I bought from Jay, (not UPO but "Latest Version"), was advertised as having either an ETA 2836 or 2824 movement. When I asked which mine would come with I was told it would be supplied with a ETA 2836 movement unless I specifically wanted the 2824. I said I was happy to receive it with the 2836.

When it arrived, I opened the back and found it had an ETA 2834-2 !!

I have done a search and haven't been able to find a great deal on this particular movement. Can anyone tell me if this is a good movement and as reliable as the 2824-2 or 2836 and is it suitable for the PO?

Thanks ! :)

2834-2 is a 28800bph movement same as the 2824 and 2836 so in terms of the sweep of the second hand there isn't any difference. It's a day/date configuration although the day feature would obviously not be used in the PO. Hope this helps.

Many thanks for your reply azerbyjam - it puts my mind at rest ! :thumbsupsmileyanim:

However, it does make you wonder why the sellers can't be honest with what's actually inside their watches. Having been told I will be receiving a watch an ETA 2836, that was actually what I was expecting to get ! It's a bit like being told that the car you are buying has a 2 litre petrol engine and then getting it home to find it has a 1.9 litre diesel engine !!

Well on that subject Fred, I bought my UPO about ten months ago from a dealer on this board who advertised it as having an ETA 2836 movement. Several months after purchase I got the itch to fiddle and bought some tools so that I could have a look inside and when I did I found it had a Selita SW200 movement. At first I was a bit put out and there was some discussion on the board about these movements at that time but the consensus was that the SW200 is a good (Swiss) movement and because it is functionally the same as the ETA 2836, 28800bph but 26 jewels instead of the ETA's 25, I was happy to let it go. The movement has worked flawlessly since new and is accurate to +/-3 seconds a day and I would be more than happy to buy another. :p
