ericw
Any thoughts or experience on the PAM028 Power Reserve? http://www.trustytime88.com/index.php?main...269b7577d63ba17 Quite an expensive rep. Not sure I will spring for this as my first panerai, but is an interesting piece. Now to some more realistic ideas... I like the 005, which Ive seem a bit more reviews of. Im a fan of the PVD version... http://www.trustytime88.com/index.php?main...products_id=637 My question though... wouldnt both of these be display backs? Why would they choose not to implement that here? Im planning on getting my first PAM but have historically been a bigger fan of "busy" watches. I do love the look of these though and figured that I at least want one subdial and/or a display back. Am also looking at the 111G (http://www.trustytime88.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=693) and the 050 (http://www.trustytime88.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=37_57&products_id=84) but the 050 again, doesnt have the display back... Sorry if it seems a bit fragmented. Not so happy to be working today while half of my colleagues are on vaca in "take your pick of carribean or latan american destination." Any thoughts? Ive read a bunch here but have not seen too many comparisons of the above mentioned to each other. Im especially intersted in hearing from many of you that probably own many or all of the above mentioned. Also regarding the display back, which Im fairly sure most panerai have. And if someone has comments on any of the above and their relative accuracy, that is also important to me. Thanks
kenmasters
Its expensive, most likely because its not available.. and of course anything can be made available at a cost $$ I prefer busier watches too, and PAMs are generally not that type of watch. I have a 177H, which has a display back. And I have a PAM222 which is similar to the 28, you may want to check that out. Power Reserve ETAs are probably very expensive.. good luck ! ericw
How do you like the 21J movement? Since its in "take your pick of cheapo reps" im a bit hesitant to pay >200 for somethign with that in it. I love the look though. If there were an ETA version of that model I think I might be sold

Not sure I will spring for this as my first panerai, but is an interesting piece. Now to some more realistic ideas... It's not available anymore. If you can find a used one, they go for around $700-800. I like the 005, which Ive seem a bit more reviews of. Why would they choose not to implement that here? The gen model of the 005 doesn't have a display back either. There isn't a PVD gen version of the 005 btw. That is a fantasy watch. Technically, there is a 195 which has the same dial as in the 005 but in a PVD case. It also has a solid back but has special edition engravings. Davidsen has a really nice 195. I'd go with Davidsen if you want gen looking PVD. No gen PVD PAMs have display backs. Talk to Angus/Puretime. He currently has the best 111E (same as G really). It already has a thick crown and high canon pin. It comes with a display back. You really don't have to do anything to it. Hope this helps. Edited December 26, 2007 by bazonkers

ericw
I see the 111E from angus has the option for the asian movement. The swiss is worth the 100, right?
bazonkers
I see the 111E from angus has the option for the asian movement. The swiss is worth the 100, right? I have the swiss from him but he not might have anymore available. I've been hearing good things about the new asian 6497 21K movements, however. The modders I've spoken with seem to really like it. I'm not sure which asian movt. his watch has. I personally have gone swiss if I could in the past but that's getting harder and harder to do. The swiss E bridged movts. (like the the one in this watch) are almost impossible to find it seems. DSN is backlogged on fiddy orders because he can't get the movts. right now. Blackwind
Why so many price variants on Trustytimes? Due to movements used? I'd love to order from DSN but get no responses to queries.

Davidsen takes time . I'd say that it probably would take a week before he might get back to you. His stuff is worth the wait, however.

bazonkers
If I told you he takes a day to respond and he took two, you'd be sad This way, you are happy as he responded sooner than I said! (He does get busy however, and it sometimes does take a while.) Edited December 27, 2007 by bazonkers
