old skool
I am interested in info about Destro watches. What is required? Can you just rotate the case 180 degrees and flip the crown guard? Is a special dial required? Will the movement be "upside down?" Basically, can I just take the normal parts and assemble it as a destro or what? Thanks.
peepshow
As long as it's a base dial, sure you can just take it apart, flip the parts around, reposition the hands (12 o'clock is now 6 o'clock). If you want running seconds, you'll obviously need to buy a destro dial with the seconds at 3.
PAMman
In order to flip the base dial you will need to remove the dial legs and use self adhesive 'dial dots' to fix the dial to the movement. Unless you can source a rep Destro CG your CG will either be back-to-front or upside down. The correct CG is repped but I can't recall which watch it's used on. Ask V - he knows and he sold one recently on the forum.
babola
Yup, true for the dial, twisting the base dial 180 degrees doesn't fit the movement for destro install without further modifications to the dial tabs. They're asymmetricaly positioned in the first place. babola
peepshow
Oops, forgot about the dial feet! I didn't know anyone made a correct destro rep CG? I'd be interested in sourcing one of those!
old skool
Hmm that sounds a little more complicated than I was hoping for. Oh well, it will just have to wait I guess.
POTR
Of course, anything with a date will require a different date wheel as well...
Gasket
There are two problems that have been stated. Crown Guard and the movement. Nornally the movement is just rotates but i do know of i couple of dealers that have just a couple left. There was a thread over on RWI, have not looked here, where someone had made one with the correct bridge, but withoout the correct cg,lol. I know these are available too, Angus has them on occasion, so does another dealer that is not on these boards. A gentleman whom i get all my watches from.
