db1 Posted March 22, 2008 Report Posted March 22, 2008 need your opinions here, is this one worth the extra money? how accurate is this in compare to silix's ETA nickel plated movement version? link to trusty's, the one i was looking at: http://www.trustytime88.com/index.php?main...roducts_id=2033 is that the best, most accurate out-of-the-box version i can get ? any help will be so much appreciated, i plan on a gmt master II with ETA, with a budget of $300 inc. shipping, wanna know how close i can get to gen with this budget and available out-the-box options. db1
w.genzo Posted March 22, 2008 Report Posted March 22, 2008 Yes, it is one of the best version out of the box. The other good one is the Noob version, check here: http://www.rwg.cc/members/index.php?showtopic=52158
db1 Posted March 22, 2008 Author Report Posted March 22, 2008 thanks btw, i did a little check on ebay for gen. gmt master II models, and i could not find one with lug holes.. how come?
Jetsons Posted March 22, 2008 Report Posted March 22, 2008 db1, the lug hole cases were replaced with the new flush types approx 5 years ago. The lug cases are out there and seem to be more prized by collectors than the new. With regard to the retro GMT, the lug holes are too small in diameter and located too close to the case edges. It would be very difficult (plus a PIA) to drill to the correct size & install the gen 2mm spring bars. Not sure what is the best model currently available, but I would suggest a flush case model.

db1 Posted March 22, 2008 Author Report Posted March 22, 2008 hey, thanks for the links and thanks for the info what about fitting a gen bezel and \ or insert ? big mod? or an easy fix?
w.genzo Posted March 22, 2008 Report Posted March 22, 2008 A gen bezel insert could fit with just a little bit of shaving, it's an easy mod. A gen bezel won't fit.
Jetsons Posted March 22, 2008 Report Posted March 22, 2008 http://cgi.ebay.com/ROLEX-GMT-MASTER-16710...8603531QQihZ022 Nice watch but one has to wonder what the hell happened for it to require a new case, bracelet, crystal, dial & hands.
db1 Posted March 22, 2008 Author Report Posted March 22, 2008 lol, yeah sounds odd.. like they replaced %90 of the whole watch, probably nothing more then some selling gimick
