Rolexman
I want to polish the bezel on my gen Breitling but I wonder if I could damage the AR coating on the crystral when I touch it with my Dremel??
Linder
I'm thinking you will definately want to keep the dremel away from the coating. Maybe try taping it off first?
Sir-Lancelot
I believe its only on the inside of the crystal. I clean the crystal with cape cod cloth when i clean the watch case. That said, only do this if its on the outside of the crystal. It is not hard to remove the coating. see dumb ass move on my part below for proof. My wife has these nasty little wipes that i find in the door pocket of my truck ALL THE FUGGIN TIME. They are supposed to take oil off without taking off makeup. ANYWAY, I decided one day to clean the crystal when i had the watch apart, thought this would be a good thing to use, NOT GOOD ! BAD IDEA ! it took every bit of the AR coat off with very little effort.
Rolexman
Thanks, I think I'll tape it off.... By the way a genuine Steelfish has a double sided AR coating! Edited June 21, 2006 by Rolexman
Linder
Tape was the best idea I could think of but even then I worry about the adhesive. Maybe someone else has a better idea?
sssurfer
-- (deleted. stupid idea, sorry, it could work with polishing clothes, not with a dremel)
