SportsterRider
I'm just about finished with my Frankenjust, with the new crystal being the final touch. Can anyone tell me if there is anything I need to do, prep-wise, before installing the crystal? Do I need to use anything to 'seal' the crystal to the case - silicone, cement, etc? Assuming the one I removed is original and untouched, there was nothing originally there. The crystal just slipped over the rehaut/case and is then held in place and sealed by the bezel. Is this correct? Thanks!
freddy333
Correct. However, if the crystal or case appears worn or pitted, you might apply a very light coating of silicone grease around the inner sidewall of the crystal to help seal it. If you do, be sure to clean out the inside of the crystal & case before installing the movement since a bit of the silicone will have been 'scraped' up around the front face of the crystal when you press the crystal down onto the case.
