gavidoc
We strive to make reps like the real deal but here's a question I was thinking about. Is there a particular reason we don't modify the Asian 6497's and our ETA 6497's into the high beat -2 models? Is the only difference a couple of gears and if so, what are they? Thanks guys! PAMman
I think that there's more to it than that, my friend - check out the various part nos for both movements. Anyhow, as far as I know the 6497-2 parts aren't readily available outside of the OEM network. I picked up a 6497-2 from a Hamilton and these should be fairly easy to get. The gears are not the only parts that are different. Obviously it is the balance wheel as well as the frequency is defined by that part. So the only parts that are the same are pallet fork and the matching wheel. Changing a movement to a high beat version means rebuilding the whole movement only leaving the bridges. And if the jewels are different dimensions you can
Sweattdogg
Seems like it would be very expensive and not worth the cost. Visually there would be little difference and that's really what we are after.
