vric
looks like a crappy finish to me.. the ETA 2436 I have here is much better looking than that.. Maybe it's a Chinese hybrid ?
Sir-Lancelot
Based on the post by Eurotimes (Chris) post and what to look for in the copy eta movements, The fact they covered all those up in the picture would have me think it is a copy. They are in China.
ChipWrecked
Here is another supplier of the 2836-2 ETA. Only $72.00USD. Now, figuring it was too good to be true - I ordered one (what the hell) and it came in the yellow case - well packaged but NOT the original ETA foil pack. Close inspection shows the balance wheel is not etched, but the main gear that Eurotimez said is polished in copies seems to be correct (verification by others would be appreciated). Well I plugged it into an older mariner rep and it was working great for about an hour. Then, it seems the balance wheel (or rotor - if Im calling it correctly), spins on its own once I manually wind (like it is unwinding itself). Holds proper time for an hour only. Seems exact same type as you linked. Be wary. Here is the link of the one I bought.
