Samurai Posted August 11, 2008 Report Posted August 11, 2008 As seen on Josh's site. Seems like the V1 with cut off lume dot on 3 and engraved rotor. I am definitely getting a V2 of this one
andreww Posted August 11, 2008 Report Posted August 11, 2008 Only big giveaway is the caseback. The model #, and Ltd Edition # should be black. As I recall, the first number in the Ltd Edition number should be red. Aside from the half dot, it just looks darker than the gen.
coolfire Posted August 11, 2008 Report Posted August 11, 2008 The pvd finish on the rep looks a world of difference when one compares it to doc's gen... imho...
rocket754 Posted August 11, 2008 Report Posted August 11, 2008 I think it's just an issue of what factory this is from. Not the version. I bet we see the other factory version soon with all it's attributes like we want. Still looks cool to me though. Makes me feel like I should be wearing some camo with it.
andreww Posted August 11, 2008 Report Posted August 11, 2008 Remember, the pics are crap, so its hard to tell how close the finish really is. It'll be interesting to see if this is PVD or blackened steel.
milsub5517 Posted August 11, 2008 Report Posted August 11, 2008 if this does not sell im afraid they may not make a V2...
coolfire Posted August 11, 2008 Report Posted August 11, 2008 Remember, the pics are crap, so its hard to tell how close the finish really is. It'll be interesting to see if this is PVD or blackened steel. Very true. I could have spoken too soon...
wheaton26 Posted August 11, 2008 Report Posted August 11, 2008 I am definitely getting a V2 of this one met too, i'm excited about this one! hopefully this will be another repping (stepping) stone to the genuine ... that's the plan anyway. here's a genuine high quality image link for all the blacksteel fans. all the best.
Samurai Posted August 11, 2008 Author Report Posted August 11, 2008 Thanks for the hi-res pic mate. Looks awesome!
andreww Posted August 11, 2008 Report Posted August 11, 2008 I'll stick with the SS for the Skyland. The Black steel is just a little to similar to my Ti Chrono Avenger.
supermanx Posted August 11, 2008 Report Posted August 11, 2008 if this does not sell im afraid they may not make a V2... V2 skyland is NOT version 2, its a differant maker. In real life the blacksteel doesn't look like pvd. Also in addition to the normal skyland faults I believe the subdial rings should be dark.
jamesg Posted August 11, 2008 Report Posted August 11, 2008 Hmmm I like a lot, this could well be my first Breitling. Only problem with a watch that looks this tough is that it may make me go out and punch someone!
Watchmeister Posted August 11, 2008 Report Posted August 11, 2008 This is one of the few gen breitlings I have been excited about in quite a while (since I don't see a Bentley in my future anytime soon). And yes, my biggest concern is the case finish. They need to change the nickname though. Everytime I read "black steel" I think of the fabulous "blue steel" look in Zoolander.
andreww Posted August 11, 2008 Report Posted August 11, 2008 One of my favorite movies of all time! Anybody up for a gas fight?
docblackrock Posted August 11, 2008 Report Posted August 11, 2008 Clear there's some dodgy photo-processing here, but I suspect this is created from pics not a genuine - the case colour is wrong, too dark, too shiny. The DLC process itself isn't particularly difficult or expensive but requires lots of tweaking to get uniform colour I'm told. The caseback is also shitty, around the LE markings as Andrew has already shown (no red number in serial though mate - that's just a caseback sticker in red ). There is indeed a V2 Skyland Black Steel in the works - think it's safe to say which version most will plump for
docblackrock Posted August 11, 2008 Report Posted August 11, 2008 I'll stick with the SS for the Skyland. The Black steel is just a little to similar to my Ti Chrono Avenger. Ha, it's funny because that was my concern, but having both in the flesh they are VERY different watches, hard to explain exactly - BS is made for rubber and TCA is made for leather. I'm thinking about getting the V2 SS edition to complete the 'holy trinity' but not sure - at least it doubles as an emergency shaving mirror
milsub5517 Posted August 11, 2008 Report Posted August 11, 2008 (edited) met too, i'm excited about this one! hopefully this will be another repping (stepping) stone to the genuine ... that's the plan anyway. here's a genuine high quality image link for all the blacksteel fans. all the best. here is your image: Edited August 11, 2008 by mil_sub
fotoman Posted August 11, 2008 Report Posted August 11, 2008 glad this came out after i ordered my skyland or i might be tempted i keep making really nice PVD watches, then selling them just realized i have NONE - got to get that IWC top gun - can't be without a pvd
rare1 Posted August 11, 2008 Report Posted August 11, 2008 I am hoping for a V2 of this, the finish does not look good as is. I will buy a corrected one for sure!
windyzz Posted August 11, 2008 Report Posted August 11, 2008 (edited) I like The "blacksteel" skyland, But I think the normal SS with Grey dial looks more elegant and feel more expensive just by looking @ the picture. Do you guys agree ? Here The comparison Edited August 11, 2008 by windyzz
