jkerouac Posted August 11, 2008 Report Posted August 11, 2008 My thought exactly when I saw this article. But then, the opening ceremony had a huge element of magic and illusion to begin with. Still, in an age when performance-enhancing drugs are shaking the foundations of many sports, shouldn't the event organizers themselves set an example of total honesty in their presentation? Perhaps at a future Olympics they can spray the audience with a mist that will convince every single person there that they, too, can fly!
Corgi Posted August 11, 2008 Report Posted August 11, 2008 When I was watching the opening ceremony I said out loud: "It's China, guys, I bet this is somehow faked!" My family called me delusional and pessimistic.
docblackrock Posted August 11, 2008 Report Posted August 11, 2008 Gotta love this story. So what, they faked it. Looked good. No harm done. Here's what you can expect from London 2012...
cdv Posted August 11, 2008 Report Posted August 11, 2008 I thought they mentioned that the "footsteps" were digital. I know they mentioned something along those lines during the broadcast on Friday night. Either way it was fun to watch for a little while.
fotoman Posted August 11, 2008 Report Posted August 11, 2008 and this thread would have been hilarious if i hadn't started one 6 hrs earlier http://www.rwg.cc/members/index.php?showtopic=80153&hl=
Corgi Posted August 13, 2008 Report Posted August 13, 2008 Apparently the little girl singing was faked too, lip-sinced to the pre-recorded voice of the original Child determined shortly before the start of the show to be too ugly for the live performance. Poor kid. Scar for life.
crystalcranium Posted August 14, 2008 Report Posted August 14, 2008 Fake teenage gymnasts winning gold medals...spray painted grass...phony fronts built on decaying houses...this Olympics is a tribute to the Chinese art of manipulated reality. Long live our fake brothers...bring on the watches!!!!
