My thought exactly when I saw this article. But then, the opening ceremony had a huge element of magic and illusion to begin with.

Still, in an age when performance-enhancing drugs are shaking the foundations of many sports, shouldn't the event organizers themselves set an example of total honesty in their presentation? Perhaps at a future Olympics they can spray the audience with a mist that will convince every single person there that they, too, can fly!

When I was watching the opening ceremony I said out loud: "It's China, guys, I bet this is somehow faked!"

My family called me delusional and pessimistic.

I thought they mentioned that the "footsteps" were digital. I know they mentioned something along those lines during the broadcast on Friday night. Either way it was fun to watch for a little while.

Apparently the little girl singing was faked too, lip-sinced to the pre-recorded voice of the original Child determined shortly before the start of the show to be too ugly for the live performance. Poor kid. Scar for life.

Fake teenage gymnasts winning gold medals...spray painted grass...phony fronts built on decaying houses...this Olympics is a tribute to the Chinese art of manipulated reality. Long live our fake brothers...bring on the watches!!!!
