Spoooooonz
I've been experimenting with lost wax casting of silver and gold. I'm thinking of making some watches cases, nothing too chunky like a submariner, more like dress watches that use leather straps . Anyone have suggestions for a suitable watch? jfreeman420
A patek or Piaget would probably be easiest. If you perfect this I would be intersted in casting the best yachtmaster rep in solid gold and adding a genuine dial. Since you are casting this yourself have you thought about making the gold a low karat to decrease cost? Can you achieve the look of 18k with around 6k to 9k? Raijor
I would be interested in something in a Breguet or a Patek and perhaps a Muller tonneau.
fakemaster
Try to stick with the high end dress styles.
llsteve80
I was looking in to this once, and apparently you lose about 2-4% in the casting process. Not much, but if you were to try to fit the gen crystal or bezel on you'd have problems. Dial might not fit either. Also, if the movement has no spacer and fits perfectly in the case that might be a problem too. Of course the inside could be shaved in that case. ironmarshal
I'd be very interested in this. Especially for something like a Breguet, Patek or Vacheron Constantin. Heck, I'd even be interested in replacing the gold plated case on Homer's tourbillion with a solid gold one if it could be done.
