visigoth4
Guys, I just got my first Submariner Replica in the mail today. Very excited to get it. However I do have a couple of issues with it. 1 I know won't be an issue to resolve. The wrist band had some traces of a rust like color. I bought this from one of the trust dealers that is in this forum and I know his Customer service is good and will send me a new one. The other issue however is that when I have the watch on my wrist and make any sudden wrist movements it sounds like it makes a bit of a loud grind noise for lik 2 seconds then goes away. Again I bought this for $108 as its' my newbie and didn't except top of the line quaility. What do you guys think. Is this normal with a low end brand or is this just defective and should ask for another one? It almost sounds like when i shake it hte watch tries to wind itself?! Any ides of what the issue could be? is it something I can fix myself or should i jsut ask for a new one? Thanks,
fakemaster
The wrist band had some traces of a rust like color. That is messed up. It almost sounds like when i shake it hte watch tries to wind itself?! It is an Automatic watch. That's what they do. Wind themselves. They make a whirring noise. What did you think you were buying? visigoth4
I just asked a buddy about the winding noise and he said the same thing you just said. Too be honest i know nothing about this stuff. Like i said this is my first Automatic watch so i really didn't know what to expect. LOL. I'm trying to learn as much as i can. fakemaster
This watch relies on the movement of your wrist to power it. If you lay it doen for a few days it will stop. But if you wear it everyday it will keep going and going. Not as reliable as quartz but much better than a handwind.
visigoth4
Thanks for the info. This forum has been a great help. Already looking forward to buying another rep.
yaron
The 21J movements of the cheap reps are noisy like you you describe. The ETA movements do not make this noise when you move the watch, but of course they are more pricy.
