Crown etching on crystal "Dotted" ?

I've just seen a Sub Rep where the 6.00 Rolex Crown etching on the crystal has dotted lines, not solid.

An obvoius flaw but what does it represent?

FYI, the gen engraving is made up of laser etched dots not one solid engraving so the dots are more accurate. It should also be very hard to see.
