Screw won't catch on my new PAM 111h on the crown guard!

I just got my new PAM 111h in the mail yesterday from PureTime.

It looks amazing, however, when I unscrewed it to take the guard off and set the time.... I went to put it back in and it won't catch the thread! However, please let me specify: when I put the screw back on without the guard there, it catches and works fine... BUT, when I put the guard on and try screwing it back in... it doesn't catch at all!

I had the screw under a magnifying glass, and it did not look stripped. What is the issue? Is the screw too short that it doesn't catch? What are my options? Can I take it to a jeweler to be repaired?

I'm lost on this one and I don't want my brand new 111h to go to waste! I dunno where to start or what to do, I'm lost.

Thanks!

I'm confused.....how did this happen?

What do you need clarification on?

I tried taking off the crown guard, and now the screw won't take back into the thread- that's essentially the problem at this point.

Thew screw takes back into the thread without the guard on, but when I place the screw in the guard to put back on... it just spins and does not catch at all.

If it looks like the screws not long enough, you can look at getting a new screw from a jewellers or a watch repair guy...or you can try and drill the hole slightly deeper on the crown guard so the screw seats lower down. Take a look at the screw and see if part of the tip snapped off...that may tell you what happened.

Another alternative is the crown guard may be "upside down". You can try flipping it and see if that fits better (the lever will obviously open the other direction)...or try switching screws. One might be longer than the other.

Make sure you use the proper screw for the proper hole. What I mean is that on some PAM reps the two screws that hold the CG to the case are different sizes in diameter and lenght. Please don't ask me how I know this as it'll bring back some painful memories, but this is what I've learned. Try it and see if it works. Good luck.

I took it to a jeweler last night for further inspection, and he said the screw pattern doesn't even match up with the thread. I'm so unbelievably pi$sed off.

I sent Angus an e-mail, but have not heard back... I don't want to leave him negative feedback, so I hope that he does.
