Anakin14 Posted October 22, 2008 Report Posted October 22, 2008 (edited) I'm thinking about picking up my second rep and I was wondering what you learned people thought of this watch and seller: http://www.pam111.com/product_info.php?cPa...roducts_id=1138 Or this one: http://www.pam111.com/product_info.php?cPa...roducts_id=1168 I'm looking, of course, for a reliable seller and an accurate rep. I'm no expert the Planet Ocean so I can't pick out the mistakes just yet. Any feedback will be welcome. Edited October 22, 2008 by Anakin14
kaibang Posted October 22, 2008 Report Posted October 22, 2008 I recently received the 5th gen planet ocean from Paul. For your info, it's pretty much the same watch as the 4th gen. Despise the weak AR, wrong crown, incorrect bezel pearl.. It's the best 42mm out there. Unlike some of the picture I have seen, my omega logo sit perfectly where it should. One thing that bug me though are the two minor dust particle stuck inside the face. Even with all it faults, this is a beautiful watch. For someone who have no experience opening watch, how hard would it be to open it up and clean the dirt off?
sodiswat Posted October 22, 2008 Report Posted October 22, 2008 Hi, The 42mm got a few flaws. ID 1138 The 45mm is good. Only visible flaw is the Omrga logo's upturned feet. ID 1168. I do not know the seller. A reputable seller is www.puretime.com Also note that a real ETA2824 movement is not guaranteed. These watches are "normally" shipped with a Asian clone of the ETA2824 which looks identical, but as I understand, a very good movement. I have one and it is currently running 5sec's per day fast which is excellent. Read reviews by By-tor's on the forum. http://www.rwg.cc/members/index.php?showtopic=426 Hope this help.
Anakin14 Posted October 22, 2008 Author Report Posted October 22, 2008 To clean the inside of the crystal, you'll need to remove the movement, which isn't too difficult if you have the right tools. You'll need to remove the case back, remove the stem and crown, and lastly remove the two screws and plates that hold the movement in. After that, it will fall right out. I posted a rebuild of my SMP on this site a couple of days ago. It will walk you through this.

I think puretime's site is actually www.puretimewatch.com
Anakin14 Posted October 24, 2008 Author Report Posted October 24, 2008 So who sells the most accurate Planet Ocean (big size)?
Anakin14 Posted October 25, 2008 Author Report Posted October 25, 2008 I'm also interested in modding the PO with gen parts. Therefore, any PO I get must be the right size, etc. With this in mind, who has purchased a PO that is the most accurate, accepts gen parts, and is from a good dealer?
