Atletico de Madrid are also worth checking out, they are more homely, but still one of the top teams. Sadly I never got to use my 30GBP ticket from a few years back as I was unemployed and didn't want to get overdrawn Let me know how it is there!

JohnG Posted October 30, 2008 Report Posted October 30, 2008 Also check out the barrio (means neighborhood) Chueca - close to Plaza Cibeles - it is the gay neighborhood and has good restaurants, trendy shops, bakeries, art galleries, etc... the "in" neighborhood in Madrid... Also barrio La Latina - good food at night, interesting area, nice architecture... And WATCH YOUR WALLET - lots of pickpockets in Madrid - many are groups of Romanian girls who try to distract you while others pick your pocket, reach in purses, etc... Be suspicious of anyone who just comes up to you in the street and starts talking to you.

One of the nicest part of the city. Lots of fancy shops and cool restaurants. Your wife will be delighted... while you can have a look at the watchstores (there are a few -probably the best in Spain- in Serrano street). have fun!
