just wanted to say hi. my name is 2sammyman named from my 2 samoyed dogs in case anyone is wondering where the name came from. i'm a somewhat newb to replica watches but have been looking at the forum for a long time and decided it was time to register and join in. recently lost my gen heuer monaco steve mcqueen that i had had since 1972 and decided i was gonna look in reps instead of gens.

so you may see me post some pretty stupid questions, but i'm just trying to learn. nice to be here :)

Ouch, sorry to hear about the loss of your Monaco...

Still no good replicas of that one, I'm afraid.

yep, losin it was a traumatic bummer for sure. my wife and i took out 1970 Z28 camaro to a car cruise and then out to dinner for what we thought would be the last time for the year before we put it away for the winter. i was driving down the interstate about 70mph with my arm out the window and my hand on the rearview mirrow and i guess a pin or somethig came loose and i watched as it fell out almost in slow motion. by the time i got stopped we had actually gone pretty far and we backed up and looked but it was gone. i had gotten it when i was a young puppy right after i thought steve mcqueen was super cool and the movie lamans came out. at the time it cost a ton for a young guy but that was before kids and house payments and wifey still liked me a lot. plus i had a charge account at the jewelry store that sold it.

even more painful after i lost it was i called up my insurance company and learned that after we moved into a new house and had put it in a safe deposit box during the move along with some other things when i went to re-insure things on special valuable items riders it somehow got forgotten. so my insurance company informed me i had a total of 1000 bucks insurance on a watch not counting my deductable. so after it was all done they gave me their most generous offer of just a few hundred bucks..... actually less than i had paid for it new i believe. they wanted to depreciate it cause it was about 37 years old. i said to the adjuster ''do you have any idea how much this watch is worth?'' was a sad day. i thought about getting a rep of it but unfortunately they're mostly not too close so i'm gonna pass on that. i actually could live with a quartz but the faces are even close to being right.

anyway, i have my first seamaster rep coming from a fella who sets them up and it should be a very nice one. looking forward to getting it. i'm pretty much done with gens i think....
