Broken stem and movement ID.

Son tried to hack a non-hacking watch. Anybody got a stem like this, or know the movement?

If you can't identify it, give thought to a stem extender, for the old stem.

Never heard of 'em. Ofrei? How would I get the short section of stem out of the crown? Probably just replace the crown, right?

*edit* Did a little searching here, like I should have before, and found out about stem extenders and The Zigmeister's vinegar trick for getting the old stem out of the crown.

One problem with stem extenders....think it through...... the extender increases the dia of the stem, and in a lot of cases you then can't then insert the stem from "outside". (Stem tube is too narrow.)

I have frequently had to fit stem to movement, fit movement to case, ( Jiggle it to get stem into stem case), then fit crown to stem. A real PIA to get stem length correct...etc.

And a bigger PIA for anyone trying to work on the watch in the future!!!!!!!

Yup, I was just thinking that last night: What if the collar on the stem extender won't go through the crown stem tube. I think I'll buy one of those assortments. My son is a moose, and I can imagine him breaking more stems!
