In my eyes, the rings are not grey, but a black color with a glossy surface finish, causing a reflection of light which makes the rings appear grey. In fact, the only very minor tell is that the rep lacks the faint-appearing concentric rings in the subdial. Here's a very good macro of the dial: Are you sure that the rings are not there. Could it be that they are so subtle they just don't show in the pictures? I have seen plenty of gen pics that don't show the rings. I could not see those concentric rings. They are either not there or so subtle they might as well not be there. Also, the ring around the sub dials does seem to be grey--it's not just a reflection.
