Asian Automatic 21j Vs. Quartz

Could someone give me a rundown of the pros and cons of each movement? Asian Automatic 21J vs. Quartz?

Easy:

Asian 21j is a mechanical movement and has a sweeping second hand.

Quartz is a dead soulless robot that clicks the seconds off one ... by ... one.

We don't generally like Quartz here, especially in our mechanical replicas.

Easy

Quartz sucks because its too simple. Mechanical is nice because its a complex, precision instrument. Accuracy depends on quality and maintenance of a mechanical time peice. I guess I like the idea of having one on my arm. If I had the money I would invest in Gen watches that build their own in house movements but for now the best I can do is Swiss movement reps.

Also quartz watches nearly drove the Swiss watch industry broke when they came out and were being mass produced by Asian factories. The art of the mechanical watch was also nearly done in because of this demand plumet. This is one reason now it is difficult to find a watch smith that can work on the more complex (especially mechanical chronograph) movements.

Basically like I said before Quartz sucks!

Jon :victory:

PS> If you have the choice between Asian 21J and an ETA I would always go with the ETA movement.
