Breitling Avenger Skyland Chronograph Won't Stop! lol.

Dang. I was hoping this day wouldn't come. :)

My lovely Avenger Skyland, with a Gen Calfskin Black Strap is broken.

I hope not too bad.

I bought this thing from Andrew last September, and have been enjoying this sucker as my daily beater.

I was randomly sitting down, looked at my wrist, and noticed the chronograph was on. i have been trying to make it stop and it won't.

Two quick concerns:

1. If I continue wearing the watch like this, how long would it take before it breaks? can i continue as normal and still wear the watch the chronograph on, or will the wear and tear on the Asian movement not be worth it, and switch to a new daily beater. which totally sucks, cuz i don't really have one.

2. Is it worth a quick fix? or should i contact one of our lovely watch smiths, and place a new ETA in that sucker. (currently saving up money for a lume job anyway, would servicing the movement be a good enough fix, or, putting a new movement be better?)

As always, I love and appreciate this community, for taking the time to give feedback.

Best Regards,

Rolly

p.s. I literally just took this picture from my hotel windowsill. can you believe that's a camera phone picture from my blackberry? must be the lighting. :) as you can see, the chronograph is at the 15 second marker, and just won't stop....lol. aahhh. help.

welcome to rwg...

the search button is your friend...if you find the "myths" post from the Zigmeister, you will get the answer to #1...which is....drum roll...no harm to the watch at all for the chrono to run all the time...

not sure of the answer to #2...could be a stuck lever with the stop/start pusher or a whole lot more...

good luck...R

@yodap - good eye man! i have been really rough on this daily beater. that's why i'm saving up for a lume job as well. :)

yes looks like i will go with the new movement.

@hackr - thanks man. my bad, i usually try my best to search before i post a topic to not waste people's time.

in any case, Andrew emailed me back last night, and was nice enough to offer fixing the movement and the pearl, for free. that's pretty nuts, since i bought the watch almost a year ago. which was nice of him.

i could go that route in the short term, but added instructions like saying it's a $20 gift, is making me think, maybe i don't want to risk it getting hit by customs or something like that.

if i'm going to save up for the lume and movement anyway, maybe i should just wait until i have the money.

thanks again community for all your help.

@yodap - Where did you get an ETA for $300? Is that the older 17j one??

Andrew will fix it...and if the pearl is missing...might be the easiest way to source that part.

A movement transfer to Swiss movement will cost at least $100 on top of the movement...and may or may not require new hands (depending on who's doing the mod) to fit the new Swiss movement hand sizes.

Servicing should solve the problem.

Hi Toad,

I got it off eBay a couple month ago. It's the new 25J one. It seems that prices have gone up a bit since I bought mine...

Here's the 'review' of mine (nothing compared to yours :) ):
