Corum Admirals Cup Competition

The very first Corum I bought was the Admirals Cup Regetta, from Narikaa, and I have loved them ever since. When the 2007 Wristwatch Annual came out I knew it would be just a matter of time before the rep'd the Competition. At one time I had thought about buying the gen, and I am glad that Angus developed a near perfect version of this watch. I decided to purchase a couple of these in both blue and black for my own collection. Corum broke away from their conventional look when the designed the Competition. The design is refined and the dial is very catchy. I always thought that Corum's, especially their chronographs, were really busy until I saw the Competition. It is slick, has a great running seconds design, and the date/day aperature is small enough not to distract from the rest of the dial, yet easy to read. Below is a picture of the gen.

Some would think that due to its large size of 48 mm that this would be a cumbersome watch, but the case design and material make it not only conforming but lightweight, too. The case is niceley finished and the dial is extremely accurate. The Crown is solid, screws down nicely and the day/date wheels operate smoothly. Impressed that they both change over almost simulatanousely . Pardon my spelling as I have had a couple drinks.

The dial is appears to be very accurate. The subdial color, seconds hands and spacing from the case are very close. The chapter ring colors are close to the gen as well. The writing on the appears to be done very well.

The strap is rubber, although not as hardy as the cousteau, but it is comfortable to wear, and I will really like the design of the buckle. While this might not be the watch for everyone it is the perfect watch for me. It is very well built, accurate, and i delite to wear. The price tag is hefty, honestly this rep should be about $40 dollars cheaper.
