rolli Posted September 30, 2006 Report Share Posted September 30, 2006 hi all, here some pics from the pam249 california with mario paci 9 marroni. when i received this watch and i saw the lugs, oh, what is this, the lugs are really bad constructed. first decision i need new lugs. so, my watchsmith built new lugs in a perfect form. more curved to the case, the watch with strap got a smooth homogeneity. we took a special watchmaker stainless steel with a ratio of silver. the rest is craftmansship. after the finishing became the steel with a flame hardening. here the result: enjoy yourself !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! rolli before: after: Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

The lugs that come on the reps are much too long and look cheap, makes the gap between the case and the strap look humungous and just plain off... If I bought mine from the same dealer perhaps I can expect the same issue, and thanks to your post, and the fact I have a good watchsmith as well, it appears that the same procedure may be in order. The closeness to the case and the form fitting curve completely change the look of the watch. I would buy a pair even though I don't have the watch yet as it is one of the reasons I have neglected adding one of these to my collection. And I like the black strap too. The problem is that most of us are not hobbiest, would not know how to source the materials and we then have to locate a watchmaker willing to do this, describe the needs and order the work. Frankly, I would just as soon send you twenty bucks and find the new set in the mail shortly after. Your watchmaker performs the work already to a standard you have set (and we like), and makes relatively easy money. Provide the watchmaker with the orders (names and addresses), hand over the money and let him make them and mail them off and you keep a 10% handling fee for your troubles. This would put you in good with the watch maker for an easy way to make money for his shop and any future work you might need on your reps might just get a little priority and extra care. Usil hi, i have paid for the lug mod $160,--, thats handwork with a special watchmaker steel. the material is a special stainless steel with a ratio of silver, unhardened. after finishing must be the lugs hardened. the material is not expensive. expensive is the handwork. it need time. my watchsmith is a real watchmaker, and he's master. thats not a watchsmith for service. i think finepics or ziggy can make it too. start a thread with this question. cheers rolli Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
