  1. For those of you that have been following along, I started a 1665 Sea-Dweller project some 12 months ago (give or take). The project wasn’t exactly planned or really intended, per se; rather, a really good deal on a nice gen dial had fallen into my lap and the project kind-of-sort-of took shape from there. Because the project had more or less found me (instead of me seeking out the project as these things usually occur), I spent a lot of time contemplating whether I really wanted to see this one to completion. I accumulated some bits and pieces here and there, but I almost cut my holdings loose a few times in favor of other projects. It wasn’t until a friend of mine had mentioned that he was building the same project that I actually committed- I agreed to help procure a case set for his project which would be ordered along with my own. That was 9 months ago. My friend is a very patient individual as it wasn’t until the end of August that I finally got off my ass to get the last few remaining parts (case, movement and bracelet). Well, I figure I’ve been slacking long enough on this one and it was finally time to knock it out. The build list- -Genuine 1665 white font dial -Genuine 1570 hands -Genuine caliber 1570 -Genuine 25-39 -Genuine 24-702 -Genuine 24-7020 -Genuine lumi insert -Phong 1665 case -Genuine 23-12200 spring bars -Genuine 93150 bracelet w/580 ends Still have a few small things to adjust, but for the most part it’s finally together… Thanks to all for keeping me motivated! Cheers and best, //ubi

  2. And people thought the Rock-Paper-Scissors-Lizard-Spock chart was cool. This is the chart to rule all charts. But for the sake of antiquity, "Scissors decapitates lizard. Lizard eats paper. Paper disproves Spock. Spock vaporizes rock. And as it always has, rock crushes scissors."

  3. Thanks a lot to all of you! So I better not enter a regular watch smith and ask if he want to clean my watch At least I have some options now. However, it seems to me that it will indeed cost as much to let my watch service than to let someone replace the entire movement. This all is, nonetheless, just in case in the future something will happen to my watch... First I have to find a good dealer (both price and quality) who want to send it to Belgium using UK transshipment. I know Josh and TrustyTime are reliable both also quite expensive compared to others. Anyone can recommend me a TD who will fit my needs? Btw, so glad we're still alive and able to talk about watches on doomsday Cheers!

  4. XFi, I can confirm what cougar1 said about watchsmiths in Europe. Domi and Uwe are well known by members of replica forums. In France, Wiz (his name is wizi on RWG) is also very reliable. He's not so often on RWG, he's mainly present on RWI. Choosing a watchsmith in EU will avoid any problem with customs when you send or receive back the parcel containing your watch. Servicing a movement is easy for any real watchsmith. The problem is to find a watchsmith who will accept to work on a replica. By law, they are supposed to keep the watch and destroy it immediately. And maybe call the police. Paul

  6. With the new wave of UPO frankens being purchased and modded I thought I would post a comparison of my 2 franken UPO's and the stock replicated version. First imo... To turn the UPO into a franken watch is very affordable compared to other brand genuine parts.. and the availability of the genuine parts are unlike most brand names.. so we are fortunate on all ends with this one.. that is just my opinion based on the cost of other genuine dials..etc. There have been post as to modding the genuine bezel (only) or swapping movement (only) imo why swap what is not obvious.. imo the dial is the most obvious .. and the crown on the rep is infamous for failure... it's broken on many members shortly after arrival.. The Crystal needs a Chief AR coating..here you get to see the difference between Chiefs AR and a genuine AR coat.. finally a look at the 2 dials with ss bracelet and black divers strap.. and orange divers strap.. after swapping them around I personally prefer the ss bracelet on the orange dial... and the black divers strap on the white numeral dial... but then again you can decide A parts list for your modding..this comes from Ubi's post on another thread.. I have ordered all parts from Ofrei.. pay less there than with Cousins.. especially with the exchange rate. And finally my thought on the genuine bezel was .. with the dial and crystal and modding plus the crown and tube.. if I went for the genuine bezel.. which needs intense modding to fit anyway.. I decided to stick with the rep bezel and insert.. the price with the genuine bezel would have come very close to a used genuine PO.. Parts list: Gen. dial= about 200 usd ... chief AR 60 usd ... tube and crown 45-50 usd (can't remember exact price) Gen. dial= about 200 usd ... Gen. dial about 200 usd ... tube and crown about 45-50 Genuine Crystal, notice the AR gives off a strong hue. Replication the dial is not "bad" but for the price I"ll go with genuine Chiefs AR ~ using the rep crystal.. indirect lighting is just as strong in this pic as previous pics. It is harder to get a manual focus on the rep. die to the heavy glare of the crystal Chiefs AR.. huge difference, this crystal once looked like the one above. Genuine crystal.. you will get strong hue when in reflective mode The crown for is aesthetic, but more than that it's functionality Wrist shots ...Straps Too "Halloween" for me.. So there you have the choices to make your own decision on what to do with your UPO.. I hope this has helped you make a better decision for you own enjoyment.. Whatever you decide .."Live Strong and Wear it Well" AC Lani
