  2. Check out Watch International. They are a TD here and at RWG.bz. On RWG.bz they have a sub forum where they do "cheapies" and I've got a couple from there, Omega Pumpkin 42mm and Omega 007 42mm, both very nice watches and a bargain for the cost. The Pumpkin has stripped the thread on the tube, but that is a common problem with POs, and a new gen crown and tube cost me about £37 and is easy to fit. Linky to their "Special Priced Watches" here http://www.rwg.bz/board/index.php?showforum=222

  6. We shall see can just sent it back for shipping. Wanted something yellow for the summer and no the yellow Avenger at 18.4 wears like a hockey puck could not go there. (love the dial though ) Also wanted to be able to get it wet w/ no worries at 300 meters I think I'm covered. This one was a close second:

  7. Quite honestly, gen or rep, once you have owned it for awhile, the novelty wears off. That's just the way it is with material things am I right? You can finally acquire the watch you always wanted, the car you always wanted, the house you always wanted, even the woman you always wanted, and after a few months/years, you want something else. With watches, I know a very wealthy man who owns hundreds of gens, and he is always on the prowl for more. That taught me a valuable lesson, that no matter what kind of watch I get, I will always want something else. So why waste crazy money on gens, when you can spend a fraction of the price on reps, and not feel so bad when you get tired of them! Finally, if you lose a gen, or damage it, you will feel HORRIBLE. If the same thing happens to a rep, not that big a deal, just order another from Trusty, Toro, etc. . .

  8. A couple of months ago I got the bug to build myself a snowflake Tudor Submariner 9411. Over the years I've been lucky to make contacts with the secondary market in rolex parts and sent out some feelers for a dial, movement, and hands for a 9411 project. While that one has been slowly coming together I had the chance to put together another sample. This one a 9401 when I was able to source a replacement dial and hands for that were luminova from the RSC HK. Here it is first with it's triangle fraternal twin, my Gen 76100 (which a good friend of mine keeps trying to convince me to sell to him). I did decide to do something different with this since it is using an MBW case and that was to put the crown on left instead of the standard right. That's the beauty of the ETA's used in these Tudor subs and the no date dials. As you can see, the dial is the newer replacement dials that are issued by some RSC's. I've heard that the Sydney RSC still has snowflake dials in stock for the 9401 as they do for the 9411 but that is unconfirmed at this time. And of course, the only route to go with a watch like this is with a real crown and insert. Nothing beats a pearl of the real thing. This build was surprisingly very easy to do and I'm glad I did it. For those interested, here is the parts breakdown. Gen Dial Gen Hands Gen Crown Gen Springbars Gen Insert MBW case that I modded the lug holes and crown guards on Clarks Crystal Clarks Crown Tube ETA 2783 Now I just have to finish the snowflake 9411 and see if the Gen case for it ever turns up that my friend keeps talking about. Hope you enjoyed reading this as much as I enjoyed building the watch. All I really need to find now is a Gen 2776 for it. Will probably save that for a rainy day though.
