  1. I do not normally get involved in these threads when quality is called in to question. And i have no opinion on the dial itself because i am no expert in these particular type of dials. But if i spoke to potential customers like this about the dials i make, i would no longer sell any dials !! Also i am a photographer and while taking a dial shot or wristi with a mobile phone camera or compact close up will distort the image slightly it is a uniform distortion not certain parts of the image. You don't need a hasseblad to take technically good photographs. You just need a decent size dslr sensor and the proper lens, in the case of photographing watches wolithout distortion then anything longer than an 85mm will do just fine.

  3. It would be great if Rolli could take some side by side comparison pics of his 000 dial next to the gen one he has, seems the logical thing to do for this thread. Oh, but at the right distance of course.

  4. Well, after a few months, I would have to say that my 1675 GMT is almost complete. It might sound a bit crazy but this build started off with just the insert. Originally owned by our very own cc33, the insert was sold as part of a rep 1675 build that he had in his possession. I had to own it so I bought the entire package and parcelled off pretty much everything. It was a pain, but if it was easy, everyone would do it right? While the rep case was ok, I knew in the long run, I would never be satisfied with it. There is no rep on the market that I know of that can capture the elegant, slim lines of a 1675 case. So I took the plunge and purchased a claimed, unpolished 1675 from ~1967. Bevels are still clearly seen..giddyup. From there, the 1575 GMT movement is usually the next hardest thing to find and just my luck, miskiped happened to have one. Very fortuitous. Next came the dial.. I really couldn't settle for anything less than a MKI matte dial that would be period correct. After some exhaustive searching and finding several blemished/damaged dials, I finally settled on a set that is in near pristine condition. Kept in a safe for over 15 years from a collector, the dial had developed a rich patina. Because the matching hands were stored separately, they too developed patina but at varying rates due to the type of packaging they were stored in. As you may or may not know, patina develops in darkness, not in sunlight. I suspect humidity also plays a factor which can be affected if its a wax envelope or paper. And patina is reversible; so I imagine through daily wear, the patina of the hands and dial will even out over time as the lume markers lighten up.. but I quite like it the way it is. What do you think? There was a slight issue with the datewheel, but miskiped addressed it immediately and even found the correct "hook 7" datewheel that is period correct. While in his shop, he also replaced the crystal with a NOS 116 in his possession. One small thing I will change is the retaining ring. The mid-case originally came with a T116 installed (that was replaced) but the retaining ring appears to be aftermarket. I have a NOS retaining ring on the way and will swap it when it arrives. Still contemplating putting on a no-cyclops T38, but i think that can wait. Bracelet is a genuine 7836 folded oyster that has a finicky clasp that will soon be replaced. Special thanks (in no particular order), for the project completion goes to cc33, lionsandtigers, miskiped, and droptopman. If you want specs... all parts are genuine Rolex except for the retaining ring.

  5. So many issues with this update. Is tapatalk publically traded? If so I would like to short the stock. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  6. Rolli projects can produce a pretty good replica dial, 036 is a great example. This 000 project may not be as good in replication of the gen like the 036 was, but all these rep dial projects are still just replicas and will have some inherent flaws (regardless of the Swiss oem marketing attempts and pricing), just part of the rep game as these are replica dials. I do find it interesting though to see a grumpy old German guy try and play the Asian replica game. Somewhat entertaining at times, although hard to watch at the same time. ---name edited by Nanuq---

  10. mate, I'm not a newbie... you can find me on RWI and RG You used a flawful Noob 000 dial to make your dial, not a gen... sorry Here to compare with a gen 000 dial Background colour/finish and layout of a 005 dial from Vannic

  11. Good effort to make it, but this dial is flawfull. Indexes are wrong, fonts too bold like 005, when in fact they are more thin in 000 dial. 3 index is totally different between 000 dial and 005 dial. Background finish is wrong, too glossy. I'll wait a 2.0 version.

  12. I'm not sure that they are changing the rules, or just becoming more draconian in their enforcement. In one respect I can see where they are coming from, preventing "fly by night" con artists coming on the forum offering services or back door deals and then disappearing with a pile of members cash and/ or watches. Now we all know that Matt, jmb and StoneP are good guys and they all are well known here. In one respect, being more forceful would have prevented the MD2020 debacle over here, as he was never a "trusted vendor" with his own page. I believe that what they are trying to do is force everyone to be a supporting vendor, pay a fee and be in a section where they can watch you! Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
