  1. Two quick suggestions: 1) Lifetime membership price. 2) I think the sales section is a bit awkward. Appears there are two posts for every sale, one "advert" and one "post". Additionally, the "New ads from our Classifieds section" can be deleted. Last post there was 2/10/17.

  4. Context: Bought an Oyster Perpetual 39mm (JF, 114300, Grape) from Mary (TD) that needed basic servicing. Timegrapher results provided by Mary suggested that it was gaining about +013 s/d, not ideal but fortunately fixable. About me: First rep, first automatic watch, didn't even know how to take out the extra steel links with a screwdriver - essentially a watch noob. I live in a place that does not have many rep-friendly watch-smiths, or even friendly watch-smiths for that matter - let's just say that asking the neighbourhood watch-smith to do basic servicing on a regular watch requires great patience, resilience and low expectations on the customer's part. This meant that I had to rely on recommendations on forums or risk never enjoying wearing my OP. Someone recommended Al (Legend), and so I contacted him about watch servicing. What I hoped for before I met Al: - My watch comes back in one piece, after months. I'm patient - I have waited for 27 years before getting an automatic watch, I can wait a few more months. What actually happened: - A complete disassembly, cleaning, oiling, regulation and assembly of the movement - complete with pictures showing me what was going on. I was new to the world of watches and Al was kind to take the time to explain to me what was going on, and answer my questions. - Regular updates on how my watch was doing and his QC processes. Al has excellent attention to detail and clearly takes pride in servicing each watch to the best of his ability. He also does mods, and damn, his modded watches look good. - Watch is returned to me in about 2 weeks, looking beautiful and working like a dream. If I hadn't found Al, I would probably still be stuck with a watch that was too big for my wrist, with a clone 3132 movement that is probably not oiled very well and with dust stuck inside. Eventually, the movement might stop sporadically as a result and cause the watch to fail to keep time well, which would be a shame because I really like this watch. However, the superb quality of Al's work, his affordable rates, and his excellent, transparent, communication style has meant that I can never get any watch fixed at any typical watch-smith without being disappointed. He has basically ruined me for any other watch-smiths forever, so I'm naming and shaming him right here.

  5. Bring back the old, more intuitive, M2M sales section format. The new version hasn’t added beneficial functionality. It also requires a workaround of double posting images in the “Watches” thread as well as in the “Classifieds” to reach the Tapatalk audience. Bottom line, a more intuitive M2M sales section will reinvigorate the forum.

  6. I would like to contribute to the forum but with a monthly cost for VIP makes me hesitate. I think more people would contribute if it were cheaper and in that way the forum would get more active. Maby@tomhorn is on to something? Please dont change the colors. I like it when things are just the way its always been.

  7. The earlier the version the better it’ll fit. As time has gone on they’ve gotten worse and worse. The V5 and lower are great. V6 OK, V7 is a pain in the ass but doable.

  8. I know tc uses a 2824 in his cases, at least in the ones I've seen. That is the same stem height as the 3135. However, he makes a movement ring to hold it and you can't use that on the 3135. I'm not sure if the 3135 will fit without a new ring being made. Just have to try it. If it has a 2824 in it, the stem height should be ok. By the way, the movement rings tc makes, are professionally made. Very nice

  9. I don’t buy from unconfirmed Reddit sources, hence a legit check. This is listed as v3 while our friend posted that it looks like v2j. So, asking where our friend purchased his... I don’t know about you, consistent nomenclature instills some confidence. And with all these cloned sites out there, you never know Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  10. Yea it does perfectly, but depends on the TC case. I’ve had one that didn’t fit. Not sure what version, but it was too shallow and the stem height was off.

  14. Personally I think that the pricing is definitely part of why this hobby is stagnating but far from the only issue. I cannot for the life of me justify spending $500 anywhere near regularly on a rep (though I do now realise that I'm writing this while wearing a BK 16610 that I paid more than that for a couple of years ago ), for crying out loud if I did that twice I could almost buy a gen speedy reduced. My personal MO in the rep hobby at the moment is to slowly build up some watches or go for okay lower priced reps. My cheap small patek nautilus has given me ample enjoyment and most people have no damn idea what it is, and when a good mate pointed to it and asked if it was real there was no expectation that it would be haha. I also see this sort of crazy hobby to be just that, a hobby, not just a deal between two people after which one has money and the other has a watch. I enjoy researching and building watches bit by bit. I learnt basic watchmaking from this website that allowed me to rebuild many heirloom watches in my family. Buy what you like, build what you like, don't take things too seriously, accept the risks of the game and talk [censored] with the wonderful people on this and some of the other fora and you will enjoy this crazy nonsensical hobby. Come in wanting to get the 1:1 b3st sub for $100 with g3n r0l3x movement and you'll be gone pretty quickly

  15. I agree , most of the problems I get in PM box from members are movement issues. If you can not fix your own (which most of us can't, myself included) you either send watch back to China (a nightmare I always advise against) or increase the cost even more by sending to one of our watch smiths, now we are back to cost against a mid tier gen. On the flip side you will get a very accurate looking well running Rep for what 10% or less of a gen of that model in the end. This is why it is called a hobby the one watch wonders who pay 4-5 hundred bucks for the latest sub and have a movement problem go off on dealers, the hobby, me LOL!, those of us who have been around w/ large collections just take it in stride get it fixed without drama.
