  1. If you have bought this then it better be e gen swiss for that price (since you can get a gen val 7750 for a much less price than this).

EDIT: I just realised that you have posted these two links as an example.

Any desent watchsmith can tell the diff between a gen Val 7750 and an asia copy.

Asian copies of 7750 if not properly serviced tend to die in short time. Most of them they come totaly dry.

Usually watchsmith do not work on reps.

That's another (additional) problem with the reps.

  2. Hey everyone,

Does anyone know if Puretime uses drop shipping? I want to buy from them because they offer more options with movements/straps/etc., but I would also like to order from someone who can show me a picture of EXACTLY what I'm buying before I pay for it.

    Thanks.

It will be easier (much sorter list) to say who doesn't.

...and yes Puretime does dropshipping just like many other dealers do.

  3. I have checked Joshua site and from CHN to EU (formal Monetary union) it says from 35 to 45 USD for 1 watch.

    To clear up things.

I am asking this, because a Northern EU based dealer is asking me 40 USD from North EU to Southern Europe. I thought this is a bit high and that's why I wanted to compare it with CHN to EU shipping cost (which of course should be more expensive due to distance).

Thanks to all for your replies.

  4. World Economy is a mess.

Countries and continents that used to have strong economies (US, Europe, Australia, Japan...) are now on their knees and some of the traditionaly poor countries (China, India, Rusia) they now have plenty of cash to spend. (..... that's why Sarko is talking about National Soveriegn Funds .. to prevent the newly rich countries countries from buying strategic EU and US firms ).

My predictions of the rep market for the next 12 to 18 months are: :(

Buyers will buy less and less. Rep sales will decrease by 50%

Producers will reduce their production levels down by 30% to 35%

Rep prices will decrease by 30% to 50%. We will see more and more Asian 21J and we will se again prices of 110 USD to 250 USD like 3-4 years ago.

Fewer new rep models will be produced. May be some new good pieces but not from the factories. They will come out most likely from private " back garden workshops".

Of course their is always a posibility for a whole diferrent scenario.

Since China is a country that holds a lot of cash right now, may be they keep their prices and now start looking on more inbound sales (CHN reps being sold directly to China).

If that situation lasts longer (hope not) .... maybe we will see European and US Rep factories ... so we will have our oun reps

  5. That is a nice piece. Being new to this one...what is the point of the non-hand winding automatic movement?? Are they just trying to make the thing 100% auto?

Simple . The more you hand wind a watch the more chances you have to damage one day the mecanism.

Hand winding is allways uneven. Winding by shaking is ... lets say more even.

Also I belive this way they use less parts on the movement

I personally find it very clever and much reliable.

  6. .... it is no secret that he is very 'selective' about the projects he takes on, and the people he chooses to take on work from. While that is absolutely his right to do, others might find his candor off-putting, and might want to find another smith to work on rather than approach him and be rejected, so that would indeed answer your question as to why folks might not have listened...

    Absolutely right.

I am one of them .... trying to find another watchsmith. -_-

....and it is not bother me that he doesn't want to take any work from me ..it's on his rights ......but it does bother me that he doesn't reply any mails.

I find this ..lets say, not very polite.

    Any way, back to Jakub.

Still no news from this guy ????

This case somehow it reminds me the RWG I watch and Blade case.

  7. After lurking here for a while (and doing some sporadic posts) I have come to the conslusion that I wanted to know more about watches, movements etc.

I searched for courses in Sweden, but these seems to be far and few between, so I Googled for books instead.

It turns out that there is a Swedish guy (Im from Sweden too) selling a book called "Amateur Watchmaking" which looked interesting and wasnt very expensive so I ordered it yesterday and is waiting the delivery of it any day now.

I found it on this site: http://www.watchmaking.se/index.htm and I will update you all guys whether the book is worth buying and reading or not.

    Good find

  8. Guys , .....

Solving a "scam case" or "theft act" with an illegal persuasion (.... ask somebody to put pressure on him) , is not the way to go.

Only the mafia is working this way.

Lets not add more wildness on the jungle.

If Police is not the way to go , maybe a trusted member here from Poland can recomend a private investigator to be hired in order to collect evidences.

When there are enough evidences , the police can be contacted to act.

  9. Reading all these regarding Jakub.

How many watches he kept ??? 30 - 40 watches

How mouch money send and nothing got back ????

    ......... its really frastruting.

Are you sure guys the Polish Police cannot act ????

.....even though the stolen items are reps, I guess in many cases "buying and modding reps without the intention to sell them" maybe is not illegal.

Can somebody check what's the case in Poland ???

I personaly cannot see any other solution other than having the police acting on the issue.
