  1. A bit of History guys (hey ... history is always repeated :-) )

May be very few guys here do remember the true and only MBW .....MARIA BEST WATCH

Well, ...Maria was also called the "Watch Nazi".

    Why ???

Every time you wanted to buy a watch and you were asking too many questions ....she was replying: "No Watch For You"

  2. Tom H will come back and eventually will reply to your PMs/mails.

But don't expect your watches to be back in less than 3 months

I've heard he has quite a backlog of work to be done ..... and on the other hand, two to three months to get a watch back it looks normal to me.

TomH is doing a great job (at least it did on mine) but is not the fastest around (though he is the only EU based that I am aware of).

  3. Hi everybody! As I mentioned before in my introduction post, I'm new to the whole rep thing. I'm thinking about to get my first rep, currently I have 2 candidates: Tag Heuer Carrera and Omega's Planet Ocean 45,5mm version(non chrono). Now, I have few questions.

At the moment I'm leaning more trowards Omega's PO, the question is would it look OK on my wrist(7.4-7.9 inches). I don't want it to look too big. Also I guess it should be more reliable than Tag with Asian 7750 movement, if PO is with Swiss ETA.

Then, as I can't find any Tag or Omega dealers near my location, I don't have chance to check them out, the feel of SS bracelet, but then again rep would obviously feel different. As I'll probably use it as everyday watch, the feel of it is important, so which of these two would be the most comfortable? From pictures it looks like it would be PO, it should have solid feel because of its weight, right?

Go UPO if you can get it with swiss ETA

The TAG only comes with the asian 7750 wich is a sort of a Russian roulette movement if not professionally serviced.

  4. Just to add, that the AR on mine clearly now shows the same AR problems.

It's getting worse day by day.

..... and I am only clean it with just water and drying it with a soft cloth (so no chemicals here).

Definitely some issues here with the watch (AR).

Dont know if it applies to all or simply there was a bad batch.

  5. has anyone seen the smaller version of the u-boat thousand feet around. As much as I'd like to wear the 50mm beast, it's too much watch for me. Do any of you have the same itch, or am I flying solo on this interest?

On U-Noat's official site it seems that there are some versions of 43 mm (mainly rose gold etc).

Though no Reps yet. .......and I am not going to buy a 50 mm wall clock.

  6. A worm welcome from me too Michel.

We desperately need EU based watchsmiths.

You will need to have some spare 2836 , 2824 and 7750 rep movements since many of the babies we will send you, will be needing spare parts.

Just for my info , what is your prefered method of payment ??

PayPal, Bank Transfer , Wester Union ???

  7. I have also tons of very small scrathes on the AR but are invisible.

Can only being seen under a strong lamp light and only under a certain angle.

Maybe we have a kind of an AR issue with all the BP V1 version here (pending on what other members can say).

  8. I believe there is a gen of this model.

If I recall correctly it was a special edition model for 10th anniversary but it was without date I guess?

    There you are.

Genuine, even though not quite the same.

    Edit: this one looks closer.

  9. Come on guys this a serious issue.

The complete absence of any QC and the dropshipping practice are causing all these.

No matter what the defenders of the rep market say , as a std average a 40% to 50% (and that's a five years average) of what you get it is either bad or it will die soon after (and not many watchsmiths around to get them fixed).

The more reps you buy the more the chances to get a bad rep.

What happens to sanders happened also to me (...By-Tor was saying that I was complaining too much B) ).

Almost $2,000 lost here and there. Very frustrating.

My solution and answer to it:

    - Be very selective on the reps you buy.

    - Observe the model and comments from other members regarding the specific watch and if bad, hold on.

    - Choose dealers that do QC (Narikaa, Precious, EuroT, etc...)

    - Avoid complicated or heavily modified movements

    - Start buying reps from trade with other members.

    - Hold on on 3 reps and buy instead a gen (Oris , hamilton, etc...). Many nice gen watches around at the $800 to $1000 price range

Five to three years a go , I was buying 4 to 5 reps a year. Now I buying one or max two and one gen.

The rep watches hobby is a very very expensive hobby. Also needs time, patience and some basic watch skills.
