  1. looks great! we've got a few local dealers in bombay too... must go back and see what they have in stock. PS: now time to get yourself a great strap - it's the major giveaway in the watch IMO try panatime.com have ordered from him before - reasonably priced and great straps.
  2. These are terrible times we live in. Mumbai has a reputation in India of being a resilient city - but the mood here in the last few days has been one of sullen anger, paranoia and fear. As wishes pour in from around the world we ask ourselves how this happened and what will the results be. Indians are easy going people - trusting by nature and tending to shy away from conflict. THis is why it is a country remarkably easy to penetrate with some ill will as has been the case historically. It is these easy going and non-violent aspects that are the long term targets of this attack. And it is these very aspects of the national character that we should now fight to preserve, or else these terrorists would have won. Peace.
  3. Since I got a gen Seamaster I've been interested in getting myself a chronograph. My first choice is (and always will be) the daytona: here is a picture taken from Eurotimez website: Thought I'd get one in leather as the ss straps feel heavier and hotter in an Indian summer (temperature up to 50c!) the only thing that makes me nervous is the problems I've heard about the seconds at 6. Still in my wilder moments feel like I should just go ahead and take the plunge - what the hell - it's a rep, right? my only other reservation is the remarkable number of terrible cheap fake daytonas available on the streets everywhere in Mumbai - hypocritically perhaps, but I feel it would "reduce" the "value" of the rep. So the quest for the great summer chrono continues. Next I turned my affections to the BCE - again on a leather strap as I find the ss one too bling. Here's a picture from eurotimez again: or maybe the blue dial? But i'm actually really conflicted between this and the blackbird: My only worry is the fact that the double ar attracts fingerprints and scratches like nothing else... This watch will be a daily beater - to wear onto the sets while I'm shooting - so it will go through hell. Which is precisely why I can't take my gen seamaster with me! then i found this, which is supposed to be a "tank" - not quite as accurate to the gen (missing datewheel) not quite as flashy as the BCE or BB but love the whimsical nature of the chrono buttons and the venus handwind movement and the display case back - a nice watch that reveals its secrets slowly... So what do you guys think? help me spend my money this summer? Thanks.
  4. well the search feature isn't working - so i thought i'd post a query. found this rep of the 2003 special edition pam163 at trusty's lemania / venus movement have my heart set on it - does anyone have any experience with this rep? Notice that the rep doesn't have a date window, while the gen does... but it still looks great. thanks.
  5. Here's my little contribution to this excellent thread.... This baby is only ten days old - a surprise gift from my wife! This is a great watch - it began it's life with a great story and since it's a gen I hope it will have a heritage in the years to come like the beautifully written story about Victoria's father's watch...
  6. Great to know who is doing what wearing those lovely watches... I'm a TV series director (mostly programs for people ages 15 - 30) made a film a few years ago - starting a new one soon (yes, there will be at least one watch close up in it!)
  7. Wearing my beautiful gen SMP Black - a gift from my wife Will be wearing this all week and the next week too!!!
  8. Well here's a nice story: Since I became addicted to RWG my wife has been giving me funny looks (the kind that say "what a geek!") I'd searched and searched and finally decided to buy a Seamaster Black from one of the dealers on the forum - Eurotimez had my vote based on his now famous QC and quick response time. Then a couple of days ago my wife came home with a box... When I opened it I found this: After recovering my faculty of speech I thanked her a million times!!! Yes she is the best wife out there! So I took some pictures (first time shooting a watch so pardon the errors) It's a gen. quartz version... here are my thoughts on it (won't dare to call it a review as I know I'm qualified to do that - but can provide my lucky noob version of what I see) 1. It feels great to wear - heavy but not too heavy. Gives a really nice solid and rugged feel. Feel like I could take it to hell and back and it would still be ticking... Which is why it hasn't left my wrist for the last 3 days. But only a small design problem I see is that the clasp collects scratches easily. I believe there's a fix by rubbing the clasp down with dishwashing sponge. Will try it and update later. 2. The crystal is slightly domed and AR coated on the inside. It looks really beautiful. The domed shape however causes no unsightly distortions of the dial, which is the classic wave pattern dial. I simply love the subtle feeling of the dial print - it can look black at a cursory review and when you look closely the waves reveal themselves to you like a secret the watch is carrying... 3. The bracelet is excellent - the best feel of any i've tried on at any ADs. never snags any arm hair, and the small polished links really add a touch of class. I'm wearing this to work and will certainly wear it proudly with a suit at any time as well... 4. The design on the caseback is really nice too - pity you can't look at it when you're wearing the watch. I'm personally having trouble these days looking at anything else. I'll be glad to tell anyone the time - anytime! 5. great lume, great sword hands. really there's nothing to not like about this. Just thought I would share the story of my luck with the community that put me on the path to this in the first place. But my appetite for reps remains undiminished. Eurotimez will be seeing my order for one of his black subs soon! Thanks for reading this - let me know what you think pls. Cheers.
  9. Thanks Piratedzeus, Just put it up on the omega forum area. Thought your topic was for anyone to post their next rep ideas... must have got confused early in the morning. Cheers.
  10. Well I've been lurking in the depths for a month now and have almost read every page on the omega forums so I thought I'd venture in with my 2cents worth. Here is a great watch that many people here have inspired me to covet (esp. By-Tor) It's available to my reckoning only with Angus. This particular model, to my nooby eyes, has: 1. Correct hand lengths 2. correct date wheel with white border 3. nicely engraved clasp with seamaster not seanaster 4. correct design on bezel insert 5. ETA (so hopefully better quality than the cheaper 21j - is this even true or do they take the same case and just swap out the movements??) Now the only problem is Angus takes so long to reply. Mailed him 4 days ago and nothing! Makes me a little nervous about dealing with him for my cherry busting rep Wrote to Andrew and as usual got a reply in minutes - too bad he doesn't carry this version of the GMT. Should I go with Angus for this? Is he usually so tardy with queries (yes, this has been spoken of before - so it must be true) and if he is so tardy and unreachable is it a safe bet to go with him? I remember reading that you should first pick a dealer and then a rep And lastly, is this a good rep? Cheers

  12. I am also looking to buy the Omega GMT for my first outing in the rep market. Have a few questions though after having done a little research, maybe the wise ones in the forum can help with: 1. What's the difference between the asian 21j and ETA watches? besides the movement reliability does the ETA come with better features. For instance, Andrew's site says that the Asian 21j watch comes with a synthetic sapphire while the ETA comes with Sapphire. Is there a difference in the look and feel in the two versions? I notice the case dimensions on the two watches are dissimilar and remember reading somewhere that the strap on the Asian version is inferior to the ETA... 2. Where can one get a rubber strap for the same watch? The one's advertised on Andrew's site are for the 45mm PO it seems... Thanks for the help in advance!
