  1. This is an easy exercise. Eddie Lee, Josh and Trusty (Andrew) all sell very high quality submariner reps, and have great customer service. Silixprime also has decent sub reps with ETA movements for very good prices. If you really want to get something dead-on, I would contact any of the three dealers mentioned above and tell them what you want. One or all will come through. And, naturally, please thank me for not chastising you for not doing the leg work yourself with the search function, as has become the traditional treatment of newbies on this forum. Beany
  2. Take a look at The Zigmeister's post from about a month or two ago regarding how the 7750 has to be jerry-rigged to get the seconds at 6. I'm too lazy to find it for you. Anyway, after you read that post, you won't want to buy the watch. It's not gonna last. It's not like the seconds @9 is so terrible. All Daytonas were like that until 2001. B
  3. Check out "Sichuan" and "Narikaa", both of whom are rwg.cc certified dealers. They have lots of pens. Also, they are reputable and you'll get a good pen. I have bought some pens from Adam, but I haven't seen him much lately. For all I know, Adam is Andrew. Beanyboy
  4. Another sad story on the new "Seconds @ "6" Daytonas. Sorry to hear that your watch isn't up to standards. This convinces me to stick with the pre-2001 model, where the seconds are at 9. thanks. B
  5. I have been interested in purchasing a good quality Rollie Daytona rep for a while now. However, there was much discussion on this board a month or so ago about the reliability of the watch, especially since it needed to be Gerry-rigged six ways from Sunday in order to get the seconds at "6" and to get the chronograph spacing correct. Then a few of the folks on this board who really know their stuff started saying that the movement would fail. Well, may I get some input from those brave souls who purchased the new Daytona? Any problems? Would you do it again? Would you recommend to somebody that they fork over $300 to EL or Angus for such a beast? Just wondering. Any input is always appreciated. Beanyboy
  6. I have the same watch purchased from Eddie Lee. It's one of my favorite reps, and one that completely fooled the salesman at Tourneau. Believe me, you get much better service if you're wearing some respectable bling in that place. Also noticed that Rollie reps are the only reps besides Omegas that seem to have the "presence" of the real ones. Rep Pateks, Breitlings, Cartiers don't seem to have that heft. Now if only the manufacters in China would get QC down better, we would all be in rep hog heaven. Beany
  7. I am in the market for a good Daytona rep too. I am worried, however, that the new modified 7750 movement (in order to bring the seconds function down to the "6") is so gerry-rigged that it won't work for too long. Lots of folks complaining about the reliability of the movement. At any rate, I think I can help with the strap problem. I found a great dealer that sells genuine crocodile straps for Rollies. Here's the link: http://www.hm-watchband.com/display_bands.asp?BandId=118 A fantastic strap at a fantastic price, considering ordering one from an authorized Rolex dealer will cost you $275. Good luck. Beany
  8. That's Ba---liiiiing! In its defense, however, I must admit that if it were done up in white gold or stainless steel with white diamonds, emeralds or saphires, it would be pretty cool. Not my taste, mind you, but pretty cool indeed. Beany
  9. I think I'll wait it out. although I appreciate the points toward the bad reps. Who knows? We may get lucky and somebody in China will decide to rep this baby in a good way. Thanks for all the input. Beany
  10. I came across an advertisement for Omega's Rattrapante model double flyback watch today in the New York Times. It's a beautiful looking watch. I have been thinking for a while about pulling the trigger on an Omega rep, and was leaning toward the Seamaster big markers model. But after seeing this baby today, I am totally enthralled. A quick search on this site and another yielded nothing on this watch, giving me concern that it won't be repped or that I just don't know how to use the search function. Could any of you rep collectors out there enlighten me on this? Also, since Omega is a heavily repped brand, do you think it will eventually be repped? If so, how long until produciton is compete? Finally, it appears that reps go through quality evolution, and it's often a good idea to wait for generation two or three of a repped watch? Any thoughts on this are helpful. Beany
  11. Hey, I've been waiting for a good Lange rep for four years and nothing has arrived that's been worth buying. The 1815 would be perfect for repping with a good ETA movement. Hell, I'll take a good case and face rep with an asian movement. Here's a few others that I wish would be repped in a quality manner: 1. Chronoswiss Flyback with green flourescent face; 2. Any Breguet model with porcelain face (instead of guilloche); 3. Chronoswiss Chronoscope. Now that would be nice. But I think our manufactueres are busy with Omegas; Pammies and Rollies. Beany
  12. Thanks, Dachshund. So, basically, unless I purchase the modified asian 7750, I have to live with incorrect subdial spacing? Geez, that kinda sucks. How bad, in your opinion, is the subdial spacing error? Just wondering. Appreciate your thoughts on this. Beany
  13. Yes. Exactly Nearly. I like the white face version with the tan crocodile watch, but yours is beautiful too. I want to buy a good one, but I am reluctant to buy the asian modified 7750. I want the correct subdial spacing since I think that's important to the overall look of the watch. And I will change out the fake band with a real crocodile one, as you have done. Nice looking watch. I bet you get a ton of compliments on it. Beany
  14. Having decided that the Rollie Daytona ss with tan crocodile band is one of the most beautiful watches I can think of, and not willing or able to plop down the $$$$ to buy the real thing, I have undertaken a study of the rep market. Thanks to The Zigmeisterzumba's most excellent entry on the modified 7750 movement, and the extent to which the movement is Gerry-rigged to get the seconds to 6, I am a bit put off on that model, especially since I found out that until 2000 the seconds were at 9 anyway on the real mcCoys. Many on the forums have also expressed disappointment with the performance of the modified Asian 7750. I am more interested in correct subdial spacing. I think I would rather have the normal 7750 with seconds at 9, but with correct subdial spacing. Can anybody out there enlighten me on this one? Is there such a thing? Silixprime appears to have something, but it's the same price nearly as the newer modified 7750 model. That doesn't make sense to me. I am willing to pay the price for the correct subdial spacing if I have to. Any thouhgts on this will be most appreciated. Beany
  15. I think the weight of this Daytona is what ultimately will prove it real or rep. An all gold real Rollie is gonna weigh in at a half a pound! I am exaggerating, but not by much. A rep will be about half of that. Beany One way for eBay sellers to authenticate their auction watches is to give the weight in grams. That't the best indication on a really good rep. Beany
