  1. I agree we should try to protect the membership of the forum from known scam sites, but as the admin said we can't control all the ads we get here. If there's a problem bring it to the attention of the admin team and we'll get rid of those companies.

The one problem I see with blocking all the Google ads is that the site generates revenue from members clicking the ads, it has been mentioned it's not much revenue, but everything helps. ;) Also, those using Firefox can't even see the ads to click on them, I use IE, but just because I'm used to the interface. I tried Firefox and didn't like the bookmark management tools and a few other features. But, I digress and won't go OT too much. :)

  2. Ask for more photos with today's paper in the pictures, that way you know they are current and he actually has the watch.

Ask for references, he can give you a list of people and e-mail them asking about how the deal went.

Ask the guy for a phone number and talk to the guy person to person.

Pay with a CC using PP or other secure payment service, if things go wrong you can dispute the charges.

Lastly, trust your "gut feeling" if it doesn't feel right, move on there will be more offerings.

Good luck with the buy and let us know how it goes. ;) I buy, sell and trade a ton of watches and other items on TZ, I have never had a problem on there except 1 seller backing out on an Anonimo Polluce sale 2 times with me and I even offered him more money that he wanted for the watch.

  3. As I said in my first post in this thread, I want my $50 back.

Send a PM to the Admin, I'm sure he can help you out to get your money back. I'm sure we didn't force you to donate, but we do appreciate the help keeping the forum going. I think I need more than $0 to work here, I donate my time and money to keep the forum going..... :black_eye:

  4. Thanks for checking. Given that he also posted the same information in the collector's section, posting it under general discussion was something of an unnecessary redundancy...

True, but no need to start fighting with everyone about it. If you don't like a topic or post report it to the moderation team and we will look at it, it's the best way to get us to look at something because it contacts everyone on the team and makes us aware there is a problem. So, use the tools at your disposal and there's no need to fight with members who can't do anything about the post anyway, let the moderation team work for you. :thumbsupsmileyanim:

After reviewing the forum rules, I don't see anything really wrong with the post, it's close to cross posting, but like was mentioned it's better than a bunch of threads I have to merge about TWG's site missing. I'll bring this up to the other team members and see what they think as well.

  5. I have a gen Tag Link Chrono with some small scratches on the tachy bezel that I want to try and polish out using Cape Cod. My only concern is, will the Cape Cod remove the black etching? :g:

I think it will remove the paint on the bezel if you use it on there. I have very limited exposure or experience with cape cod, but I think it will remove the paint. Maybe someone else who has tried it will have more insight. I can tell you that if you have a leather strap on your watch and use this stuff it will get on the strap and stain it, I do have experience with that. :)

  6. Wow, as mentioned thank you for the great review and for saving me from trying to buy myself one of these too. ;) It's too bad our "holy grail" has turned out to be nothing more than another disappointment. Oh well, I guess we can all still save our pennies and one day buy a genuine, I think they are only going for ~$9500 now. :) I guess we can still hold out hope for the all Ti PAM194. :whistling:

  7. i hear these SHT-Mod Dep buckles are basically invaluable.....$1300 is a total bargain -- let's do it :animal_rooster:

    deltatahoe

We should do a group buy of these, even if there is only 1 we can pretend we can get a better deal by all of us putting our money into the hat. ;)

  8. To me I don't know if there's so much a % difference I'm looking for. Sometimes it's as much as, lets say I can buy a rep PAM111 for $250 and it uses the same movement as the gen, you can buy aftermarket straps and a new crown/cannon pin and have something about 90% as accurate as the gen or you can pay $3500+ for the real watch, it just doesn't make sense. Then there's times when I'm going to see if I like the watch or it's size so I can buy a rep and "test drive" the watch and see if it works, pay $750 for a nice PAM187 or $10K for a real one and find that I don't like it. :) Then you can add in that there are some watches that would be fun to wear, but who wants to spend thousands on a watch with a roulette wheel on the dial when you can buy a rep for a few hundred and still have the same fun. I don't know if this even came close to answering your question, but I figured I would ramble on for a while and see if it helped. :):victory:

  9. I was thinking the same thing and at the same time I was thinking if I needed to bid on it too before I found out it was the wrong one. :) The right Rolex movements usually will go for a ridicusly high amounts anyway. :(

and if it had been the right one, it would have been stupid to ask here, because dozens of guys here would have started to bid on it and the price would have risen tremendeously!
  10. Ok Willith, step away from the keyboard or the bottle...

I will translate for the reader...

Great looking watch and strap! Too bad I hate Elliot, so I'll never own a strap like this one.

:black_eye: Man! I thought I had that one all figured out, I guess I need a grammar checker as well as a spell checker. :whistling:

  11. Very cool project watch! A few friends of mine are also working on the 3646, they are working hard to get the parts right, the best movements and things like that. When you finish a project like you have it is something special that anyone can appreciate. Keep up the good work and the posts! :thumbsupsmileyanim:
