  1. one thing about the size issue, especially with the dress rollies- the reps are too small.

they were alittle small to begin with, i read the noob is about .5mm less than the gen.

also for some reason the factories have NOT resized for the new cases on these models

as they did for the new GMT for example. so the DD & DJ are now quite abit smaller than the gens.

the numbers are not impressive but they do wear bigger. if you put on a real WG DD you will see right away how much heavier

and what a tremendous wrist presence it has. that's why IMO a larger man (like Tony Soprano) can wear the DD without it appearing

so small. that said- 37mm is about the smallest i think a man can wear nowadays.

  2. i have quite a few gens but more reps. i think more often i actually wear the reps.

i'm big into rollies- so i have gotten almost every single model they make. i have a bunch

of DJ's and subs. i would never be able to afford all those gens. to me the reps are like

shoes- i wear them to match my clothes.

also- the security thing is a biggie. when i travel i never take the expensive stuff.

usually a tag quartz and a couple of TT subs or something.

  3. BTW- speaking of gens; i just wanted to show this Daniel

Richard i got @overstock.com last year for about $750.

you can get some very good deals on these and other 'lower rung'

swiss watches such as Jacque LeMans. they have real valjoux 7750 mov'ts

which is worth the price just for that.

  4. You are making me confirm that I want to grab a rubber strap for mine so I can have some variety with the bracelet. Can anyone tell me if the rep rubber is 1:1 with the gen as I would rather not spend $400 if I don't have to...

i'm not sure about the prices, but if you can get a good buy on the gen

or rep strap i'd take it. i have a rep ingy with the ss bracelet and its very heavy.

this titanium/rubber combo is light (but not too flimsy either).

  5. thanx alot guys. its a couple of years old and has some

small scratches on the case, but the band is new and its

been completely reconditioned at the AD.

i was just down in the carribean and they are going for about $5700 list

    price.

i think that i may end up buying more 2nd hand watches in the future.

the gens are crazy and the reps are all $400- 500 lately.plus the qc issues with the reps

is ridiculous. maybe 30-40% have some kind of 'issues' from my experience the last year or so.

  6. thanx- its from an aquaintence. they just want to sell it.

he had some problems with it and it was fixed at tourneau.

he got an exp.2 and doesn't wear the IWC. he needs the $$.

i think i should get it asap!

ps- its got a rubber strap-new.

  7. chrono or non-chrono?

Good question- i thought they were all chronos.

if its not - is it still a good deal?

i know that it has the white (or yellow on the rehaut)

  8. to my IWC friends; i'm not much of an expert in this brand

but i do have a nice rep Ingy.

i have an opportunity to buy a used aquatimer for $1000. assuming its in good shape,

i presume that is a good deal? i see josh sells a swiss version for that price.

    thanx

  9. its funny- i was just thinking last nite what my favorite watch

    was : the Next one.

i definitely have the disorder. right now i have about 50 watches, many reps. i've given away tons of reps

& gens too! there's no question that it is some type of escape- reading, posting, buying, waiting, etc. etc.

mostly it is a male disorder - to the chagrin of our partners. most women don't get the whole watch thing.

i know i have a somewhat OCD mind- so this fits right in.

the good news- its better than drinkin' cheap wine & smokin' crack!

  10. most of the time i can live with the minor flaws.

for example- i have a couple of DJ's with the small roman numerals on the dial.

    many have 2 #7's @ 7 and 8 o'clock. i never even noticed it myself until

i read about it here. its so small- nobody would see it- so who cares.

also- the real HB BB supposedly has a screw down crown, not the rep. again who

would ever know the difference? i'm so glad i got a great watch for $300 vs

$12k or so for the gen.
