  1. Adding to the Get Well Soon thread! We're all rooting for yah Lani
  2. Yesterday I met up with my watchsmith to exchange a few pieces. He is rep friendly and had fixed a cheap (quartz) Monaco for me already. While we we're chatting I decided to discuss a small issue I'm having with my DSSD v3 with the ETA copy movement, which I was wearing at the time. I took the caseback off showed him the movement. He looked at it, then put his glasses on and looked closer. "This is NOT Chinese" he tells me. I explained that it's supposed to be, and that's what I payed for. He then told me if it were Chinese, it's the best replication he had ever seen... So looks like our rep makers are putting together a very nice product!
  3. I was kinda feeling the Porsche more to begin with. I do love the IWC Top Gun but I gotta have the clear caseback for this run. Someone at RWI recommended me this Oris: http://www.watcheden.com/oris-tt3-limited-...-21351-p-1.html but now I'm noticing the shiny PVD and thinking the Flat black looks better. I'd love to get a SS watch and DLC it, but it just ain't in the budget right now. Thanks all for your opinion, still open to any other fresh ideas if you got em! Probably placing my order early next week.
  4. OK, so my next purchase is about to happen. Here's my criteria: Must be all black or close to it. Must have clear caseback to display movement with engraved rotor showing. Budget is less than $400. Preferably closer to $300. I've thought lots about the Hublot Big Bang Lite's but the sticker on the rotor is a deal breaker- plus they're a little too much $$. Gave some thought to the Concord C1 but it's just not black enough. So my finalist's are... (drumroll please) OR Your thoughts? I am open to other ideas everyone so let's here em!
  5. I believe watcheden has a couple different options around that price range too...
  6. Is that the gen too, or just the rep?
  7. OK, thanks for the help! I think this one is in my near future...
  8. Along the same lines as the other post, I want to let you all know Ubi recently helped me out in a similar way. My DSSD has a rotor that likes to come loose every so often. So Ubi, at no charge, sent me a ETA rotor. I appreciate your help, man. Thank you! Now all I need is a screw driver set small enough to get this old one off... I can't believe the precision tools needed to play around with these things.
  9. I dig it! Allthough, I too am a sucker for Monaco's.. I guess it's too much to ask for a rep of this one
  10. You're stock piling 'Momma Don't Know' money just to fund your next rep purchase.
  11. I've seen pics of lume on the regular models, definetly wondering about the PVD version like this one:
  12. Wondering about all black PVD limited edition model. Does anyone know if this watch has lume? Considering purchase and this is important to me... Not even sure about genuine, but I would think it should... Thanks in advance for the assistance
  13. Both Josh and Watcheden drop ship. So there's not really the QC from either. However, either one is a supported dealer here and should be fine to order from. Personally, I have ordered from one and heard excellent things about the other. So go for the cheaper one if you ask me, unless you can find a dealer that will QC for not much more...
  14. I kind of hoped I'd get a comment from either Lanikai or By-tor out of this one...
  15. When you're wife starts threatening you and using the term "watch porn". For real, and I never have used that expression around her!
  16. I find that happening to me! LOL, and then I'm dissapointed every time I see that ticking (quartz) hand.
  17. You start to wonder who would win in an arm wrestle between lanikai and by-tor...
  18. Is that sarcasm? We don't get that here. - Steve Martin I love top 10 lists. Like top 10 reasons TO OWN this watch. 10) Unlike most Rolex's, this watch is actually visible to the naked eye. 9) Attention to detail, as mentioned earlier, on the rep model Build quality of the rep/ gen 7) How many Diving watches are actually used for diving? This is not the first! 6) Advertising Rolex on your wrist, may just help with women attempting their "Ring Lock System" 5) It's heavy enough to double as a weapon (Handy in a bar fight or a shark fight) 4) I AM married, and the "Ring Lock System" has been one of the best decisions of my life. (It helps when you meet quality women) 3) It is not a traditional Rolex, therefore you are not required to be in your retirement years to wear it... (Daytona excluded) 2) Jeremy Clarkson does not own one 1) It tells you the time
  19. When I came here I researched practically every brand aside from Rolex. I had no interest in them whatsoever. Partly because of my age (28), partly because of the brands popularity, but mainly the styling did not do it for me. I looked and read for hours at all kinds of watches... So what am I wearing after all this? WHY??? Well, the look of this watch really grabbed me. Large, blue lume, the hands... Then the details of it, like the ROLEXROLEXROLEX rehaut (I think that's what's it's called), the little crown serif, and actually the crown itself, all over the watch. So here I am. Will I but another Rolex? Maybe, I like the (vintage) Daytona's and definetly dig the Tudor`s... That being said I have several others in mind before I go back to the brand. Moral of the story? Don't write off a brand, ANY brand, because they may just surprise you...
  20. Impressive, most impressive. But you are not a Jedi yet... Actually maybe you are a Jedi! Great video, I`m at work so I did`nt have sound but it looks like you were a man on a mission. Looks like another fairly easy mod for the V3 DSSD. Thank you!
  21. Yeah, I know a tripod is a must... Guess it's on my shopping list now. I got a slim Canon - nothing special. The manual mode is what I used for most of these shots I believe. Minimum focus distance makes sense, that would explain what I was getting with some of these (and other) shots. Thanks for the tips. I've never cared much about photo's until I discovered and STARTED LIVING on this forum.
  22. Good eye Shundi, your on to something there. It's actually the 10 itself, the 0 has like a paint overspray on the lower right portion. I covered it with a black jiffy marker but it's still evident when you look for it.
  23. Any other opinions???? Constructive criticism is most welcome....
  24. Does anyone happen to know if the ETA rotor would fit on the copy movement? I would think so, but hope someone can confirm this...
  25. The Monaco is fairly nice. It is a cheaper rep so no where near perfect. Strap is a cool design but the Croc Leather is so-so. It's a good look tho, and a must have for a car guy like me
