  1. It's normal. QC pics are nice, but they don't zoom in enough to really tell if there is a defect. It's just nice to see the numbers on the QC pics and when the watch arrives it has the same numbers so you know they did some sort of QC. China delivery services aren't on par with the rest of the world. Sometimes they get updated, most of the time they don't. Just be patient, you'll get the package.
  2. In the US, we have some small department type stores like Ross and Marshalls. They have nice kenneth cole, Guess, and other designer watches for the $100-200 price. They look classy and I've seen quartz and automatic watches.
  3. i bought my black submariner on canal street about 1-2 years ago. I have no idea what movement it has but it's off about 10-15 seconds per day. Had it for almost 2 years now runs just fine and never been serviced. Unless you're looking for an exact movement then I don't really see a difference in quality of reps. I paid $150 for the sub and it's one of my favorite replicas. only defects I found on my watch: - uni-directional dial doesn't align perfectly... off by a few millimeters. Not really noticeable unless you're looking for it - laser crown in glass is a little too visible compared to gen. Again, not noticable but compares to what i've seen from the dealers found around this site - sliding clasp on bracelet is impossible to use unless you have small tools on you or the strength of hulk. - Bracelet is a tad too sharp. gen has rounded corners not so edgy. - crown has lost a little bit of the black paint I'm no expert in catching flaws in replicas so I have no idea about the font in the date wheel etc. Personally, I would gladly take another gamble if someone had a watch I wanted.
  4. I have never participated in one of these threads. So I guess I'll start. My first replica: Black on Black submariner
  5. I'm also new to this hobby. And I've always thought that swiss ETA was an actual new ETA movement. None of the dealers express that it is used. Reading around the forums, many people have mentioned that the swiss ETA has better reliability compared to the Asian clone. I am about to purchase a few reps and I was thinking of getting the Swiss just for the piece of mind that it should last longer.
  6. I should also carify that I speak of the topic from my experiences in the engineering world. I have never had a watch tested or have used one of these machines myself so my understandings could be way off and hopefully someone can chime in.
  7. a negative bar is done in a vacuum. So those test will be used in high altitude situations. They're also important when graphing the values... but in your situation, they're not necessary. As far as the positive bar, it shows depth in water. The relation of 1 bar to 33 feet is somewhat true but bar is a unit of pressure while feet is in length. 1 bar is the unit of pressure at sea level. If you go down another bar you will descend 33 feet. Your watch failed the 10 bar test. It held the 2 bar test but had 74 um of deformation. Unfortunately, every watch is different and depending on the gaskets and construction material, this could matter... but the watch did hold 2 bars of pressure thus why they mentioned you could go down 33 feet. Test 3 (the +1 bar) should have been done first to relate sea level... but it doesn't really matter.
  8. I guess I should work with the dealers on the site. I've just been hesitant to deal with customs and what not. I've been lurking this site for years and have never taken the plunge.
  9. So just browse around. If I do find a Tag that I like, is there anything I should do before purchasing it? I guess just check the weight and eye it so see if it looks OK? But am I to assume that its junk and will break in a week? Also, what am I looking at spending for a watch there... $100 or so?
  10. I own a few gens, but would love to start getting a few reps. I hope to pass by chinatown and might finally purchase my first rep. Is this advisable or should I just stay clear of the area? Please advise. lol Thanks!
  11. Well I want to buy 2-3 watches in the next month or so. I'm looking for a very nice blue watch, something along the lines of an aquaracer or a blue rolex. Then I'm looking for something a little different, and the look of a nice skeleton would be perfect. I was thinking about spending about $300-$500 for the blue watch and the skeleton about $500 or so if I find what I'm looking for. The watch you showed is very nice with the two tone. I'm digging it. But I really don't like leather straps. I'll take a look at everyone's recomendations and I'll come back and make an update to what I find. Thanks to everyone thats helped or given an opinion.
  12. Thanks for the heads up. Guess I'll stick with the regular aquaracer.
  13. I have always been fascinated by the skeleton watches but I've never gone to actually know them by brand or style so I call on you guys to guide me a little. I'm looking for a brand or style that is very modern, stainless band as I don't like leather, not too complicated. I like this one... but leather/ This one is nice but too complicated inside I noticed the skeleton thread posted a little before this one but I didn't want to hijack the thread as its not the same topic. But I did notice some skeletons in that thread, the ones that have fine detail in the engravings, but they had leather straps. So any recomendation on brands that I should look for or where I can go to find some and compare different models?
  14. I was on the Tag website and that watch just looks nice and all sexy like. I've searched these forums but it seems like that watch hasn't gotten much (if any) movement. This is also reflected in the stickied buyers guide on the top of this sub-forum. So if anyone can shed some light as to how this rep looks and feels in real life, I would appreciate it. I guess I should also ask if this rep is being sold, as I've searched around and was unable to find it.
  15. Thanks for the welcome everyone. I plan on lurking and getting familiar with everything before I start posting or buying my first rep. Thanks again.
  16. A friend of mine told me about RWG and I checked it out... loving it! I've been browsing around and it seems like a good community here. So where does one fine a nice skeleton or a watch with a very nice blue face? Something like this: Or this:
