Even the misaligned bezel insert?

"For an SMP you probably overpaid for a watch you could buy cheaper on the dealers sites in this forum." Actually it's not the first watch I've ordered since joining the forum. The FIRST was the 300m SMP I ordered from Silix last Friday! Cost twice as much as the one I paid for today, but it looks like a very good rep. I've also been assured by a few people that it's good value. But... I ordered it several days ago, and 4 emails and one PM later Silix still hasn't sent me their Paypal details so I can pay. HA! Given their lack of interest, I'm not sure if I will go through with the purchase even IF they reply to me. Probably will though. I also have a well-respected, responsive dealer sourcing a SMP for me. If he finds a well-priced one he's happy to sell, I will take it. Today's purchase was about two things... Curiosity -I wanted to see if the warnings about replica2u.com were always correct. Enthusiasm -I've got THE FEVER and things weren't happening fast enough! Maybe I've been rash and wasted my money, but at least I'm finally in the game, DAMMIT! (Oh my) Let's see how this works out...

I really wanted to get started on this hobby. Okay? I really, REALLY wanted a 42mm SMP (2531.80) rep. Yes? Soooo, I've ordered and paid for one at replica2u.com. GASP! CRINGE! Now, I looked on this forum and others and the company didn't seem to get any good reports. In fact even the neutral questions about it were answered with cries of "SHILL!". The Replica2u also came up in the various scam lists around the web. Sooo, maybe I've set myself up for a fall. But I figured the price was good, the pics looked nice (even with the misaligned bezel) and the price was good... and did I mention the price? Anyway, let's see how this turns out. Given the negative posts about this company, I won't be shocked to get burned. Even if it works out, there's no guarantee that it's their usual SOP. Maybe I got lucky. On the other hand... if I get ripped of, it will be futher confirmation of the hostile posts. It's my money and it will be a valuable lesson for those temted to repeat my foolish mistake. Hey, how bad can it be? Right? RIGHT???

I know what you're saying spookycord, but the reasons I really want a WBK is because it IS more flawed and because it's such a great quality bargain. On the subject of pictures... I've been fanatical about picking out the features on the gen 2531 SMP. The Silix seems very good but the photos indicate that the shoulder on the case (or whatever it's called) surrounding the crown is not bulky enough. The gen SMP has a very deeply recessed crown. Ordered the Silix item a few hours ago. Still want to get the WBK rep though.

I'm still waiting for some information from a couple of dealers, but so far it looks like Silix rep wins. Or maybe both!

No doubt! I can see that this scene (and the range of reps) is HUGE. But I've got to get my feet wet sometime (a Seamaster joke, perhaps). Certainly there's a lot more to read on the subject. I'm already eyeing my next rep... a 4th Gen PO (orange bezel). What I SHOULD be doing is sitting back, breathing and taking it slow.

Thanks for the advice. I've been seriously searching the WWW and reading for a few days and already read the By-Tor's Omega guide and a few of his posts. I've also read a few reviews of the gen. Have I missed something big?

I just compared the idol pics with the gen (www.omega-addict.com/reviews/seamaster/) and it's so obvious. Now that I know. That's the sort of thing that makes me want to get both reps. Subtle variations that AREN'T so subtle when you know. Outstanding. Sorry to repeat myself but... how confident can I be that the the photos show what will actually be delivered? Thanks again.

Appreciate the quick reply. Being new to this stuff, I'm wondering how you can tell that you've bought an idolreplicas watch if you got it somewhere else. I'm not questioning what you say, it's just that I'd imagine that the rep dealers would have a list of suppliers and not produce their own watches. But I'm not a watchmaker so I can only assume (not always a good move) there aren't that many manufacturers. Once again... not doubting, just curious. I'd also like to know the chances of getting the reps which ARE DISPLAYED on the individual dealer's web site. I think I can spot the more obvious Seamaster 2531.80 physical features, and the two watches I've listed LOOK to be good reps for the price. How certain can I be that the the photos show what will actually be delivered?

Looks like I've got a new hobby in never knew existed!!! I recently spent a few days is Malaysia with my daughter and we picked up 2 (cheap) reps each. My watches (TAG Carrera and a SMP Coaxial GMT) cost less than $40 each. The SMP Coaxiial has a power reserve of about 10 minutes. HA! I wish I'd known about forums such as this before I spent my money. I now realise I was shopping with my eyes closed. But apparently now I'm addicted. I've seen what's out there and I want more. I have to start my collection at the bargain end, but with what seems to be a popular "classic" rep AND a stunner. I'm looking for a SMP 2531.80 rep with blue dial.
