  1. Just saw the SSDv2 in the EuroTimez section. I'd grab one of these in a flash if it was avail with a DG2813 or similar. Anybody own one?
  2. Thanks for the reminder, f5mando! I'm "negotiating" a financial settlement with my ex right now. When it's finally sorted out I might treat myself to a gen blue SMP Bond as a reward. Lost a bad woman, gained an excellent Omega... sounds like a good swap.
  3. Pretty sure it's the quartz. I've often wear one just like it. Very good for the price but does not feel as nice as the 7750 rep. Posted some comparison pics at RG www.repgeek.com/showthread.php?t=29928
  4. Didn't think much of the new SMP when I saw the pics. Tried on a gen red SMP at a local dealer about an hour ago. Very nice.
  5. Interesting thread on what I see as two very different STYLES of watches.
  6. Of course! Such a simple trick when you explain it.
  7. Thanks for the reply, AllergyDoc. Frankly, I don't know if I can believe that "night" photo. Seems very bright for a rep. And other dealers carry this thing?
  8. I have the same rep from Silix. The pearl and bezel insert is real nice right out of the box. Unfortunately I SCRATCHED my insert while trying to align it. It took an incredible amout of heat before I could lift it off the bezel. Can confirm that the pearl is attached to the insert. I'd like to get a new insert but am put off by the bad pearls and inaccurate font on the bezel inserts I've see. The font problem is most noticeable on the 2, 4, 5 and 0. The Silix watch does a very good job of it. Too bad Jay can't source the EXACT insert that came with the watch.
  9. Does anyone sell an SSD v2 with a 21j Asian movt? Possibly a 2813. I'm more interested in this rep as an "accurate" bit of jewelry. Not so concerned about the guts.
  10. This rep would have made a better starting point...
  11. I'd like to take the dial and bracelet from #1 and put them on #3. And add a gen bezel insert. That sort of work is out of my league, so I might have to ask my local friendly WM. The Silix watch is an Asian ETA-2824. I think the other two are 21j movements.
  12. I've yet to see a nice used gen go for under $us1200. These three cost me less than half that amount.
  13. Constantly looking for a better rep. But while I'm waiting...
  14. Thanks for the clear explanation in #71.
  15. Now I've only been on this forum for less than 3 months... Sooo... I'm guessing that "lug holes" are holes in the lugs which hold the bracelet/springbars in place? Are you saying no current submariner rep has these? Sorry, I'm confused. If I understand that right, how does the bracelet fit?
  16. Okay. Usually I'd just do a search, but I'm feeling lazy... What's the "lug holes" issue all about? I must have missed something.
  17. Would any of you buy one of these?
  18. Thanks. I understand the changes made to create a gen LV model. I was just wondering how common it was for these differences to flow through to the REP. In particular the noob version.
  19. I got a noobmariner a few weeks ago. Could not be happier with the value for money. Now I'm considering buying an LV as well. I was wondering if any LV noob owners could answer this question for me. Does the LV model of this rep have different hands and dial to the regular watch, or has the makers simply swapped the bezel? Does anyone with this rep want to comment?
  20. While we're (sort of) on the subject of identifying Omega gens... can someone please tell me the model number of this one:
