About 3 weeks ago I bumped into the Milgauss at a Rolex corner. It was displayed in front of the store. I wasn't into Rolex for a long time since I joined the rep world 2 years ago. The reputation floating around the brand wasn't my way of seeing thing. But I started to look at the buzz around the vintage models and finally felt for some models. I then turn my devotion toward the explorer I. The redesigned one looked nice but I wasn't quiet sure… But when I saw the new Milgauss I get the well known childish feeling "I want this !"
So I looked around and order one from PWC.
Honestly, I tried the Milgauss at the Rolex corner and when I received my watch I really wonder why I would bother spending 5000€ (except for the movement… maybe) if you can get almost the same quality from the outside with a 100€ model…
Everything is here the shape of the case is really nice. The crown is well done. The crystal is sapphire. The dial is stunning. OK, the markers are not made of white gold but a silvery material. But honestly, who care to have the markers of his watch made of white gold ?
According to the Milgauss manual the glass is supposed to be engraved with a crown at 6 o'clock. There isn't one on the rep. But I couldn't find a pic of a gen on the net that has this feature. And neither did the one from the Rolex shop that I saw…
The bracelet is supernice and has the Gridlock system. The watch screams for quality and the thickness and the weight is much more enjoyable than my Deepsea (that I guess I am going to sell…). The shiny/brushed bracelet was a little awkward and too much at first but after 2 days I am totally used to it.
The claps
the Gridlock
The antimagnetic cover
Lume with 5 sec. UV lamp
Expose at the sun light
It misses a shoot of the back… But it looks exactly the same as this gen (same font, same weigth) :
And after some sealing grease treatment it is now waterproof (didn't bother to tests it when I received it) and ready to go swimming
