  1. VERY well done. Thanks! A review with that much detail takes a great deal of time. I have never looked seriously at this watch, but, your review may just send me over to Robert's place to buy one. BD
  2. Yes, Alligoat, you are correct. The modder had to trim the dial to fit it in the MBW case. I didn't think much about it at the time. Now, every once in a while I have a few pangs of regret. The gen white dials were fairly easy to come buy back in 2006 - priced right too. I paid less than $100 for the white tritium dial in mint condition. Now these dials are selling for as much as $500/600. Mine was devalued when it was trimmed, and is marketable only to someone who wants to put a gen dial in an old MBW case. BD
  3. Size Comparison between a DSSD (from Precious Time - ordered mid May - Asian ETA) and a modded MBW 1680 from the original George. Just the Gio paint mod to the DSSD. Grown Guards, Gen Dial, Gen Tropic 127, Upgraded Bezel, Gen Pearl, Gen 93150 Bracelet, Drilled Lug Holes, Gen Springbars, Gen Crown and Tube, and service by the Zigmeister on the 1680. The DSSD looks and feels gigantic when you first put it on. After 15 or 15 minutes, I don't notice the difference. The sane goes when switching back to the 1680 - feels like a toy at first - after 15/20 minutes - no difference.
  4. The new - old skin looks great - no problems. Feels like an old friend returned.
  5. Ordered 1 strap from him a year or two ago. Took about 4 months to ship. VERY SLOW to reply to emails (if at all). This was my first and last order from him. The strap (when it finally came) was first rate and the price was right.
  6. Have owned this Gen for several years. 100% of the people who have asked to hold it or look at it have laughed and "advised" me that "It's a fake - Look at the second hand - It's a fake for sure!"
  7. Only two - not much of a group. MBW 1680 & SD
  8. If the truth be known, most of the members here would be astounded at the number of people that Rob has helped behind the scenes. In addition to servicing several of my reps, he resurrected my MBW 1680 after it was buggered by a long departed modder. He also brought two 100 year old, long dead watches back to life, going far above "the call of duty" on one of them. I have thanked The Zigmeister privately several times, and the original post in this thread prompted this public "Thank you so much The Zigmeister!!!"
  9. By-Tor, Your photography skills have evolved from GOOD to AMAZING.
  10. Picked this one up a year or two ago from a "broke," friend for $1500 to save it from the pawn shop. Mint condition - will keep it 'till "i'm looking up at the grass."
  11. The Zigmeister, I'm pleased that you posted pics of my old Elgin. It keeps almost perfect time. One of these days I'll locate a retaining ring that fits, or can be machined to fit the old boy, and install a crystal. Pollux1, The Elgin is 100/105 years old. Thanks again The Zigmeister for returning it to running condition.
  12. Two or three years ago I built a franken 1680 white 1680 for a cost of: 1680 MBW watch - $400 Gen Tropic 127 crystal $25 Gen white dial $60 Gen bezel insert $50 Gen Springbars $10 Gen crown/tube $60 Mods
  13. My 16760 transitional GMT Master ll "The Fat Lady"
  14. I've had this one for 6/8 months - purchased from one of the "cartel" dealers. It's been a no problem watch; keeps accurate time (+10sec. per day). Although the strap that ships with the watch looks good in the pics, it's actually thin and not up to the quality of the watch. I replaced it with one from TC Straps. I have been pleased with the watch.
