  1. Just an update.

    This Daytona is now DEAD.

Never going to buy a Asian 7750 with seconds at 6 ever again.

(Not unless they make them more reliable.)

I would vote it a "no buy".

    Mine arrived with defective movement.

    Stopped at 5:00 o'clock consistently.

DaytonaT replaced it with a brand new movement.

Now it refuses to wind on my watch winder.

It has become a manual winding daytona.

However, it does keep good time.

I would go for new, improved Asian 7750 is some other configuration other than Daytona.

  2. To more thoroughly confuse me now I find this at a Panerai site:

"The Pam 1 is a Luminor Marina with a seconds hand dial at 9 o'clock. The seconds hand enables the Marina line to qualify for a COSC certificate. In 2002 (E series) the entire "Historic" line was changed to a sapphire display back using a new movement with a swan's neck regulator."

So the 001 was a solid back until 2002 when they then changed it to a display back?

Did this model then become in fact the 111 model?

  3. Help me out here guys.

    Suffering a memory lapse.

If you take a Pam 111G model and put a solid case back on it, what model does it then become?

If I recall properly, some members here took their early 111G's with the incorrect appearing movement and placed a solid caseback on them to cover the glaring mistake on the back.

Others have apparently changed out the old movement for the newer version now available.

    Thanks guys,

  4. Let me say I am probably one of the few guys that bought the same watch at the same time from two different dealers to see if there was really any difference. Paul was one dealer because his price was so much less than any other dealer. I then picked out another regular dealer that I had done significant business with. The Explorer II's arrived about the same time. I was at first biased thinking that the more expensive watch must be of better quality. I paid significantly more - it must be better. After a few hours of close inspection I could see no difference between the two watches! Now, one year later both are still running like exact twins.

Now I am sure this is not true for every watch in a dealers collection. There are bound to be variables.

That said, I just received two GMT II's from Paul. I am again happy with my purchases. For me it was good price, good service, good product. Your actual results may vary, and in my experience, this is true for any dealer.

  5. This issue has been debated extensively in replica sites and also genuine sites.

Bottom line - doesn't seem to make any difference.

Only real reason I prefer winders is so the time, date, day, month, etc is correct.

Pick up any watch in the morning and its good to go.

Except for tomorrow when I start resetting them because of daylight savings time.

  6. yeah, but his shows a green face and red GMT hand....does that describe yours? I am looking for Eta with black face, green GMT hand, and sub crown and crown guards....let me know.

    Got mine from Paul.

Only place i could find with the stainless steel / black face / green bezel / eta 2836.

Happy with my purchase, I personally have always had good luck with Paul.

  7. Okay so I admit it.

I love the new GMT II 50th Anniversary in stainless steel.

Not the gold model, not the two tone model.

Make mine the plain stainless steel with the green bezel / black face.

Yes I know its not an authentic color combination, gold or two tone only.

But the stainless steel / green bezel / black face - it looks so cool.

So I buy the piece cause I just gots to have it.

Now I notice that it does not have the usual GMT crown / guards.

At first I thought it was a typical replica defect.

But no - even the authentic has the submariner like crown / guards.

Quite odd for a GMT 50th Anniversary to be sporting the sub crown / guards don't you think?

  8. The problem with the current 212 is the blatant face error of the minute markers.

If they would just fix this properly I would be first in line for one.

The authentic with minute markers outward:

The replica automatic movement, note inward minute markers:

The replica with manual Venus 175, note outward minute markers:

Also note the crown guard is not engraved on this model.
