  1. We have a DNC registery here in OZ that works very well indeed. If they do call folk on the register they are jumped on, hard. Yhe only eccptions are charities, political partys and the handfull of registed polling companys. Col.
  2. What goes around comes around. I love to see these "one big happy family" threads. This is the great thing about these forua. I have seen this kind of generosity on all the big forua espicialy the RWG pair. If I may nominate another for a philantropic award, Dave123 while not liked by some has helped folk out this way on several occaisons including giving watches to people he has felt deserved a break. Rember he was top bid for the RWG watch that was auctioned here recently to help a member down on his luck as well. If he still has it when I can afford to make him a decent offer for it I intend to help him out by takeing that one off his hands as I would realy like an example of that watch. It is a beautyfull piece IMO as well as one with a lot of history behind it. Bad memories for some I know but history all the same. Col.
  3. I don't think I'd wanna see that one parked outside my local school somehow . . . Col.
  4. Just read the linkege above and it reminded me how lucky we are in Oz when it comes to octane. 93 = high octane? LOL. Our unleaded is 91, E10 is 95 and premiem is 98 with 100 available at some Shell outlets. Which explains why our models come with more power than the US version of the same car. My Subi won't even run on anything under 95 without pinging even in standered form. The water you see after startup is quite normal and has little to do with ethonol in fuel and more to do with water in the atmosphere. A tank of E10 is a good idea every now and again to remove water from your tank otherwise it just builds up untill pure H2O hits the injection system with nasty results. E10 and other ethonol fuels should be bought from a servo (gas station) that sells a fair quantity of the stuff however to prevent it absorbing too much water while in their tanks. Col.
  5. What an ass! I hope they find him, soon. I sugest makeing him bleed a bit and locking him in a cage with a cpl of Tasie Devils. Higst jaw pressure of any animal. They eat bones and all.The only thing they leave is the hair. I have a friend who is a wildlife carer. I'm shure she could come up with a few more ideas. Col.
  6. Dr Time, watches-brand.com tho I'm shure there must be someone doing Swatch Citizen Seikos cheaper. Some of them are quite nice, the pilots watches in particular. Col.
  7. If its going to live up to its name it will need a lume job I bet. Another thing (along with braceletts) I wish the factories would spend a bit more time on geting right. Its a nice watch tho. Col.
  8. Wow The Zigmeister, that wear is scary! I can only imagine the damage from the swarf off that can do inside a watch case. The damn thing rotates on a bare post? Sheesh, a roller bearing would do wonders for longevity for shure. Col.
  9. Pugwash: If you buy that ask Homer about the box. Vrit has a pic posted here somwere of a box that holds the watch and two straps. It's perfect for this watch and it deserves a box of its own. Col. PS. I hate you! Seriously, enjoy ya lucky bugger.
  10. Wow, great thread. I know an AD quite well. Been takeing gens to him for years, and buying a few. He is a watchmakers not a jewler and a AD for Rolex and Omeaga as well as several JP brands. He has serviced and cleaned my reps and appears to like working on the different MVTs> He has a genuine interest in every newie I bring in. BUT. There is NO WAY I would wear one into his store! It stays in my pocket untill either we go out back or the place is empty. It's only polite. Wearing a rep into an AD is wrong, period. Even if you know the guy. I have a different take on which rep scares Rolex most. Yes, the new uber reps a worry for them but the real danger is our old friend the noob/begin marriner. My AD could not belive the quality and pricepoint of the NM. He striped the a21j and prounced it a viable MVT that should last if oiled every few years. We ajusted it to near COSOC standerd (+7sec/day) and waterproofed it to 50mt. And its a hundred and eight bucks! Even in the real world it's under three hundred.THAT would worry Rolex. For those who doubt all hel breaking loose any time soon rember that its only been a cpl of years since the ubers started to appear and only now are they becoming common. The number of times of late I have seen "Made with gen as sample" in the last few months is amazing. Chk out TTs Big Pilot. Its perfect, on the first real good strap I'v seen on a rep and $198. Its never been this good and they have never had more reason to strike. I think as said by somone above that we may soon come to the point where the reps are so good that not only do they take sales directly away from the brand but lead to all sorts of akward questions like "well, why is the gen so expensive?" being asked by clients in ADs. All it will take to bring this shift (IMO) is a reliable version of the 7750 sec at 6 and a increase in overall QC. Oh, and a bit more time and effort into straps and bracelets. Most are pretty bad ATM. Once this is done what reason is left to buy a gen? Very little for a whole lot of people. And of cause these super reps are bringing a whole lot more folk into the hobby. Used to be that most of the mainstream buyers (those who don't know our little private world exists) bought one or maybe two watches but now there buying many over a period of time and spending thousands of dollars at street pricing for super reps. This is real money that in their (gen MFG) eyes would have gone on one gen otherwise. Of cause there are those who actualy use their watches as tools, divers, pilots, navigators, explourers ect who will allways want a gen. When a rep Navi becomes good enough to fly on or a GMTIIc good enough to take to the south pole we're doomed. I realy do think we could be in for a shakeup sometime not too distant. Regards, Col. Exactly! Couldn't put it beter myself. Thats roughly the value we're geting too. If not beter.
  11. It peeves me that you can only get a rep of the rep, ie: the annivesery model. This used to come with the solid back before some clown decided to "improve" it. Wouldn't be so bad if the MVT was spot on but I still want a solid back on it before I get one. Sixty five quid translates to about 180 bucks OZ tho . . . Ouch! Col.
  12. Neil's Speedy would be nice but it ain't gunna happen so it would have to be a tourby of some kind. Not a skell, they don't appeal to me much. Whats that moden styled tourby with the tourbillion hanging off the side like a small reactor? A Concord? Most seem to hate it but I quite like it. Col.
  13. Vric: man that's stunning. Did it come with that box? Can't see it on the site so which stock number is it? If you can remember. Col.
  14. @TT:  Ta mate, still wipeing the tears from my eyes. Copied for the next round of stupid emails. Col.
  15. How about a Rado? The ceramic ones are VERY black indeed. The "Jube" is the only non round watch I own. Its available in a quartz MVT for about 120 bucks in full ceramic (SS case back). Col.
