  1. I just saw "The Godfather II" for the umpteenth time, and I was curious if anyone has been able to figure out what sort of watch Michael is wearing, particularly when he is in cuba. I'm thinking of the scene where he hugs Fredo and tells him he knows he was betrayed by him. any ideas? I can't find a good pic of his wrist there, but in one frame in particular, I would swear he's wearing a Jaquet Droz.

  2. Hello all,

I just found a very nice elgin movement on ebay for a very very low price, and lo and behold it works great. I am tinkering with the idea of getting it put into a panerai case with a sterile dial. The movement measures 44mm. Will this fit into any panerai case?

Here's a pic so you get an idea. I have seen wonderful cortebert and angelus movements placed in your watches on this site, but I wondered if another movement from an earlier era might fit.

    Thanks.

  3. I guess I'd have to call myself a collector, although I have a habit of wearing my PAMs more than anything else. I love to be a completist, and part of me likes to have representations of the history of watchmaking. It's my own personal museum, and I love it. I too find myself wearing my case fraus as one member here calls them. I wear them around the house sometimes. It's a great freaking hobby, man. A passion, really.

  4. I'm bringing this thread back out into the open, because I think this watch is fantastic. Unique, in the sense that it challenges the color scheme that Panerai works with. Also, the casing on this watch seems similar to the casing for the 187. Now, about that depth gauge.

  5. I have amassed a relatively large collection (about 35 pieces) and I'm wondering what the best way to ensure they last as long as possible. So here's a couple of questions:

    1. for those watches that you rarely wear but complete your collection, is it wise to keep them powered up everyday? I currently spend time winding all of my watches in the morning (a wonderful tradition) but don't know if this is the best way to keep them maintained.

    2. I know that the general wisdom is that most movements last 5 years before they need a servicing. Having said that, is it prudent to have them wound everyday, or does winding them periodically optimize their utility?
