yeah, that's right. al12 listed them. a few are out there, but not many.

Unfortunately, I tried pushing the pin out the other side, just to loosen it a bit, but it won't budge. That thing's in there. I might have to send it back. I was intending to give this as a gift, and I don't want to do anything to the watch trying. Someone online suggested using a rubber band to place in between the screw and the screwdriver, but I'm hesitant to try this.

I just received a new PAM. I was very excited to receive it, but one of the screwheads on the pin is terribly stripped. I have a spare pin, but the problem now is taking off the existing pin. I tried the right width screwdriver, but the head is in such bad shape that it's too thin to get any leverage in there.

Does anyone have experience with this? Can anyone suggest a way to take out this pin?

If I recall correctly, this image is from IWCs website. I know that most companies don't always represent the correct color scheme, like AP does on their site. I was more interested in whether the blue was worth going for on the rep. I have read a few posts (now that I know how to search again on the new interface) and I think the rep is accurate, but the real problem now is whether I'd wear a smurf blue watch all that often. I think I'm going for the 06.

These guys actually do a service to rep makers. Now they can have easy ways to see how people are verifying the authenticity of a watch. What a service!

Unfortunately, if you like these watches, 150 seems like a reasonable price. I admit I don't have comprehensive knowledge on the price of an overhaul, but it's not parts you're paying for, it's the labor required to clean the parts and relubricate them. If you like them, I mean really like them, then I say that's an okay price. Consider that many companies charge a hell of a lot to overhaul a gen. I personally prefer to own many reps and pay a good watchmaker for his labor. I support watchmakers, but I don't necessarily support most watch companies because they are overpriced and spend most of their money on marketing.

I think it looks great. The best CF strap I've ever seen. Where do you guys source this, or did you make it Concepta?

that's what I needed to hear. I'll be constructing categories and such over the next few days, then I'll propose general categories. By the time we're done, any person that wants a sweet watch library will have only one place to go!

this is excellent, Redwatch. I just posted a desire to compile a decent bibliography for watch collectors and repair geeks. I would definitely add this to the mix. Thanks for sharing the pics!

I've been thinking of ways I could contribute to this site, and one of the things that pops up is a comprehensive bibliography of watchmaking, both its history (collecting and repair). If there is enough interest, I'll begin the process of putting one together, categorized and organized for convenient access on this site. This is a HUGE undertaking, but one I have been planning to do for myself anyway. Let me know if this interests you, and I'll get to work on something that everyone here can appreciate.

Go with a Luminox. That thing will go through the fire. The G Shock is the other way to go. Or maybe an MTM special ops watch if you want to go a little military chic.

that's an excellent strap, man! I bet it wear's well. I like the combination of a hornback with a simple dial. Good choice. I bet this looks great with titanium as well.

That ring holds the movement (or the movement cover) down. You gently place it over the movement and close the caseback.

I like the term composite. I also like the term "modded." The watch has in fact been modified from its original template. Since we already use the term modded to mean "modified to be more like the gen" perhaps we can fuse TeeJay's term and call this "custom mod."

In January, Demonslayer posted a topic about caring for his aquatimer after it has acquired moisture. When he opened the caseback, a strange little ring popped out of it. I have posted his image of that ring since I do not have access to a digital camera. I recently opened my aquatimer caseback and found that it had the same ring. It literally popped out, and now I'm concerned that I did something wrong to the watch, mainly because I don't know how to fit it back in to the caseback. i left it out because it seemed it would catch onto the rotor.

1. Can anyone tell me what this ring is?

2. Can anyone suggest how to put it back in without doing damage to the movement?

Which RO Chrono? The old ROO with the 2892/DD movement (seconds @ 12:00)?

No, the one with sec @ 9 that has the stick markers and the classic blue dial. I'm in love with this watch. While others are all about the new secs at 12, i'd really like one of these instead.

It looks like the Asian version to me. The balance wheel has a smaller diameter on the spokes, slightly less than the overall proportions of a swiss version. That's only my .02, and it might not have much value at that.

This may be the dumbest question I've posted, and lordy knows I can post some doozies. But I need to ask. Many people seem to be able to source watches directly from MBW. I've yet to figure out how to do that. I ask because I want a discontinued AP royal Oak Chrono that they made a couple years back and dealers here don't seem to have it anymore. Can anyone help me understand how to contact MBW so that I can see if I can purchase this discontinued model directly?
