  1. Im not sure they are reps though...hopefully they are gens.
  2. Cool, I cannot see them being an authorized dealer though. If you have bought from them, I assume you checked that you got a gen and not a rep?
  3. Some of the websites, for instance Chronograph seems to have decent prices but are they really selling gens? From what I understand (and this comes from a guy that bought a rep B&R...*LoL*) you dont get the Seiko warranty if you purchased the watch from an Internet-site without the "Authorized Dealer" Seiko-logo: Seiko logo explained
  4. I have just been in contact with an AD for Seiko in Sweden and they claim that this particular model isnt available in Sweden or in EMEA at all...so I have to look for it when I go to the US next week. How much did you pay for it? I have seen both "official" prices and also discount prices on different websites, but I am unsure whether the websites are seen as authorized dealers or not.
  5. Im going to San Jose, CA this coming Saturday (10 Jan 2009) for a weeks stay. Does anybody know where I can find a retailer for Seiko in the San Jose area? I really want one of those SKX007K!
  6. I just received my BR 03-94 rep a couple of days ago (search the board for my pictures of it!), but for some reason the quartz-movement did only work for a very brief amount of time and then stopped. The chrono seems still to work though, but the "actual" movement is not. I talked to the dealer and he said that it could be that the battery is running out. It could very well be that the battery is weak, but would the chrono still work albeit the actual movement is not, if this is the case? I will take the watch to a watchmaker next week to switch the battery nontheless to see whether it works or not. Since the B&R 03-94 is a more unusual design, do you know how to open the watch to change the battery? I would assume that the watchmaker may not know this... There is just one tiny screw on the back with the label "Do not unscrew" and also four larger screws on the front. Is the watch opened from the front or back to switch the battery?

  8. Ah, I need to call Rebecca about this! *LoL*

  10. Wasnt Ofrei quite hard to deal with?
  11. I couldnt despise winter more! I have been living in Sweden all my life and its not only the cold that I hate (I got frostbite on my hands when I was around 10 and 30 years after this event I still have problems with my fingers), but the darkness...oh man..the darkness! When I am writing this, its 4.45 PM my time and it has been dark for about 1 hour already. You gotta hate that! On the bright side, in Sweden the summers are great, the sun doesnt go down until 10 PM and is usually warm... All in all, I fully support Global Warming if this means that the Swedish winter go away.... *LoL*
  12. I have tried to search in the forum for this, but never really got the answer to it. As I understand there are members at the board that build or mod their own watches and most of the Gen parts seems to be sourced either from auction sites like Ebay or sold between members. Now, let
  13. Quite interesting to see the ownerstructure behind a lot of brands. A little like the consumer-market, where for instance Unilever and the Nestle Group owns a lot of brands that you didnt know was connected. Perhaps getting some shares in these groups would be worthwile? EDIT: Here are some pages for investors for two of the groups above: Swatch Group: http://www.swatchgroup.com/en/investor_rel...ns/share_quotes The shareprice has gone down significantly since Q1/2008 it seems, but is on the rise again. Maybe now would be a good time to invest? Richemont: http://www.richemont.com/share_price.html
  14. It could actually be triggered by your looks from what I understand. I talked to a friend of my wife that used to work as a stewardess both on planes and on the ground and she mentioned that the ground-crew checking you in actually can tag you for special screening. Maybe this is working two ways, first a truly random mode and also the ground-crew. She told me that the ground-crew (at least when she worked a couple of years ago) had lists that changed frequently with characteritics of apperance that would trigger a "SSSS" on the boarding-card. I actually got the SSSS from the start checking in at Arlanda, the Stockholm airport. Could have been truly random, but I was all dressed in black, with a shaved head and shades....so I didnt look like a nice boy I guess...
  15. Guys, In a 1.5 months time I will fly to San Francisco again (I usually go once a year for techie-training). Now I have been blessed with a kinda mean and evil looks (but I am a really nice guy, trust me on this) and I assume because of this, I was tagged with some sort of "Special Screening" tag when I flew to the US a couple of years back. This "SSSS" on my boardingcard meant that I got my own little extensive search and they took all of my handluggage and checked with some kind of scanner after traces of explosives and whatnot. They send my watch through the x-ray machine and also my belt and my shoes and my silverchain around my neck...(thank God they asked me to remove it anyway before sending it through the machine!) Question is now, If I get the Special Screening again (I will stop over in Chicago) would it matter if I wear a rep this time? (I am currently waiting for a black very nice macho-looking 42 mm B&R from Chris at Eurotimez) I know that customs doesnt look too kindly on reps when delivered in packages, but I assume that this doesnt apply if I *wear* a rep through immigration and customs, right? I just want to check beforehand if I should bring the rep or not (or stick to my old Kenneth Cole watch).
  16. Guys, I am currently waiting for a B&R rep from Chris... In the meantime I signed up for the B&R official forum and took a look around and it seems like even gen-owners have their share of problems... For instance this guy (posted Sat Sep 06, 2008) "...Less than 45 days ago I purchased a BR-02, my first Bell & Ross. As an owner of Rolex's, Panerai and a few Tag Heuer's I have had very few problems with watches until now. I chose the BR-02 as I love the look and feel of the watch, unfortunately I have many problems that include the hands of the watch touching and removing the white on the minute (and hour) hands, occasional bezel resistance when trying to use it and the band seems to get turned up on all four corners where the rubber meets the metal of the watch. Currently Bell & Ross has the watch and prefers to repair it and not replace a miss-manufactured watch, which is a great concern as there are many problems from with this specific watch. This is the new era for Bell & Ross and it appears they are able to meet the quality control and customer satisfaction of other high-end brands. As requested and to see how Bell & Ross resolves this problem, I will update to let those asking know how they handle these manufacturing and customer service concerns...."
  17. Former Senior Security Consultant (worked 6 years with it) with IT-crime investigations, security assessments and whatnot. I even worked some time at the French Riviera (which sucked bigtime, since I was away from my family) as a testleader for a very large Internetbanks IDS-system. That I think was the most boring assignment I ever did, as I didnt speak any French and I lived for some weeks up in a small village in the mountains just outside Nice... ....not much to do in the evenings and nowhere to eat...so I ended up eating yoghurt and cold pancakes I bought at the supermarket for a couple of weeks... Now I work as Technical Account Manager for a US-based securityvendor in Sweden.
  18. I dont want to comment too much on this case, since I think that turbo himself will update you all on the progress if he so wishes. What I can briefly tell you is this: We have already been in contact with the Edinburg police as well as some other law enforcement agencies in the UK and got help to some degree, but some more action needs to be done before Interpol can be engaged.
  19. First, welcome to the board! I must confess that I am jealous as h*ll right now. In the Nordics in Europe it is starting to get cold. I am at the moment sitting at a SAS Radission hotel bar in Oslo, Norway writing this (I am here holding a class, I live in Sweden otherwise) and outside it is cold and very high humidity...so my double espresso and shot of Baileys are a relief... Just a warning to you all guys on the forum...do not...I repeat..DO NOT...post pictures of the nice warm sunny places where you live...it only makes me jealous that I dont live there... *LoL* And now, back to the regular programme....
  20. *groan* Oh. man...is that really the 46 mm B&R...looks like someone said, like a wall-clock strapped to the arm... It is definately *NOT* going to be a 46mm for me then... I looked some further and found a 42 mm version here: http://www.tt88time.com/index.php?main_pag...cd3a1bd958a8adc This one has only 2 subdials as the 42mm should as Steve mentions above. The only thing that I could have some comments on is that the strap is nylon and it seems that only the 46mm has rubber straps that you can buy... Do anyone of you have a pic of the 42mm strapped on to the wrist?
  21. I am halfway through buying this BR01-94: http://s303.photobucket.com/albums/nn154/e...nt=DSC04756.jpg from Eurotimez, but one thing that bothers me a little when I asked about the model is that the movement is "Swiss Quartz" which in my mind indicates a batterydriven movement...? Am I correct in this? If so, what do you think about using a Swiss Quartz movement in this rep?
  22. I checked B&R official website for the Phantom and it looks really cool, but I would guess that a rep without lume or a bad lume would be a nightmare with the Phantom...but it looks *damn* cool. I have actually asked for a qoute from Eurotimez for this BR: http://s303.photobucket.com/albums/nn154/e...nt=DSC04756.jpg but if the Phantom is a good rep, I would happily go with that too... When you do get the watch, please share your thoughts on it and post pics please... How much did you get it for?
  23. Since it seems to be an A7750 in the reps what is the power-reserve in the rep? I had one really bad Tag Heuer rep once that I bought from a friend which I gave back since it stopped working in the mornings after I had taken it off when I went to bed.... I really like the look of the U-boats so I really, really hope this isnt the case with these reps. Can anyone verify that the U-boatr 7750 movement is still running in the morning when you took it off when going to bed?
  24. I received the book 2 days ago and have been reading now and then as soon as I could get some time to myself...with 3 kids in the house (and a constant battle with my 2 teenagers on the value of doing homework instead of playing Warhammer Online) my time is quite limited... Strange that it may sound, I have always thought in pictures while learning. It could be that I am left-handed or that I am just a strange guy, who knows. Some of the time with the book and particularly the first "theoretical" part I read quite slowly since I needed to "create" a picture in my mind how it all worked and how all parts interacted. I cant say that I am entirely satisfied with my mental picture yet, but since it has just been 2 days it will be better. The second part of the book on how to disassemble, oil and assemble a movement is very brief and I havent been able to test this in practice since I lack the neccessary tools right now. Anybody knows a good source in Sweden, Scandinavia or even EU for watchmaker tools? I will take a look at the TZ Watchschool soon as well as I understand they have tools too. I can recommend the book though, but I guess that if you know more than I did (ie. absolutely nothing) on movements this may be too basic for you.
