My GMTIIC(IHS) had a similar problem about three months ago. I took it to a local repairer to find out that the rotor had come loose. It was an easy fix and the watch worked great until a week ago. Now it has stopped and cannot be wound???. The repairer said something has broken in the movement and has quoted $220AUD (approx $180US) to repair it, he said that he will need to order Gen ETA 2836-2 parts to fix the clone ETA movement??. I'm not happy, but I guess i have no choice but to have him fix it. BTW - The dealer who sold me the watch said the loose rotor was a common problem with the copy ETA 2836-2 movements....??? I hope your watch is the loose rotor problem.....good luck. Lump.

The dial is sort of close to blue ... but close only counts for lawn bowls and hand grenades. I think most of us here have had experienced the gut wrenching disappointment of crooked crystals, smudged dials and DOA's. Nice watch. I have one which has been my daily beater for about 12 months, has not missed a beat. I see that the rehaut engraving on this model is aligned correctly with the minute markers, unlike earlier models. it was quite an obvious flaw and I'm wondering if it has now been fixed. Is this how the watch came, if so, where did you get it ?

Folks - this watch collection is not the Rene Rivkin collection which was auctioned in 1997 - here. rivkinwatches.crspartners.com.au Rene's collection included a calculator watch by HP, a Vacheron Constantin - Le Coultre watch with Diamonds for hands, and a Harry Winston dress watch, which fetched around $17K at the auction. As far as I can tell, they have no connection - other than their last name and wacky watch collections. thank you Google. Lump.

I could be wrong - but I think Rene must have had a preference for Asian Movements..... Pictured here in 1997 after his tax office audit, I'd swear he's wearing a Seiko Arctura Chronograph.....
