  1. Yes, it is really fun to take part in in this game. It has become a kind of daily ritual for me... But if ever Cornerstones cards run out, I have a few questions left. So we can luckily make it up to 1000 posts...
  2. OK. All other contestants have server problems or are sleeping... There are lions in Africa that he could have killed. There are polar bears at the North Pole he could have murdered and there are definetely sharks ( I´ve seen even bullsharks ) around the coast of Florida that he could have catched. The one thing that must be wrong is that he caught a terrible cold, because in winter at Noth Pole it is too cold for germs causing the cold...
  3. Come on Cornerstone... Answer is SHORT...to get a new question...
  4. Fifteen. It´s a little confusing to find new definitions... Just figure what three is one third of, which is nine. You know that half of twenty is ten and therefore ten is one third of thirty. So, if three is one third of six, fifteen must be half of twenty. Good night...
  5. I don´t know if Aspire was Paul´s site lately. Some say it was run by a guy named Chris. Mails were signed with "Paul" though. The wo-mart site has the same login for members. You can log on with your account from Aspire and see your order history. This is a big hint that the site is run by the same person... On Aspire he says "out of office for business" and the new site gets updated nearly every day. Some kind of strange... Greetings DJ
  6. Not bad Irongambit, same result in the end, but Gauss found it out this way: (1 + 100) + (2 + 99) + (3 + 98) + . . . . + (50 + 51) = ? If you notice every pair of numbers adds up to 101. There are 50 pairs of numbers, so the answer is 50*101 = 5050.
  7. His Name was Karl Friedrich Gauss, and not Melvin...
  8. I know it, I know it ! But I don´t tell you...
  9. Wait, here´s another possible answer... The egg that he´s holding in his outstretched hand already has no shell anymore...
  10. He just drops it 2 metres in the air and catches it again afterwards...
  11. That´s one for dumb Germans like me... He has 2 hours to sleep until midnight. If you have a mechanical alarm clock that must be wound, you can´t set the time to pm or am...
  12. Where do you buy the aftermarket insert ? Do you have it already ? I bought some off ebay but was not really satisfied with the quality, especially the colour. They were purple and not really blue... Greetings DJ
  13. Don´t let that read the Spanish Members around here Ken. It´s a kind of national - drink in Spain ( especially for the dumb german tourists ) and it´s based on red wine. So if anybody mixed it with milk it would be not really drinkable anymore... Anyway, this one is not easy but I guess if you ask for the amount of milk in Sangria it´s more milk, because there was no milk in the Sangria before. Same for the milk, there hasn´t been Sangria in the milk before. I would say the amount of Sangria in the milk is higher than vice versa. But in the end we have again two litres of liquid so the total amount of liquid stays the same.
  14. Got a mail from Ruby yesterday, wrote back and no answer yet. But be patient, she will answer your mail. She always answered. Please consider the timezone difference too... BTW - I ordered a blue one... Greetings DJ
  15. 774 was already the right answer. 774 matches will be needed. Actually you are trying to determine the number of matches needed to come up with 774 losers. Viewed in this light, of the 775 people in the tournament, everyone will lose a match except for the champion.
  16. Did not confirm yet that this was probably RIGHT ! But now the quizmaster cornerstone is back again...
  17. Hey Ken. I posted some easy ones and you were around...
  18. ...and the famous Pugwash does it again... CORRECT ANSWER Since Mr. Smith was born and raised in the U.S., he would not have spelled the words "HONOUR", "CENTRE", and "COLOUR" as they appeared in the note, since this is the British way of spelling these words. An American would have written: "HONOR", "CENTER", and "COLOR". Mmmhhh, where is the quizmaster ??? Until he comes back one more from me... Mr. Becker volunteered to be the chief organizer for the world's table tennis championships. There were 775 contestants from all over the world. The tournament was set up whereby the winner would advance and the loser would be eliminated. Since there was an odd number of participants, the initial pairing leaves one player out. That player gets a bye and automatically advances to the next round. How many matches will Mr. Becker have to schedule to determine the table tennis champion?
  19. This took you a few minutes longer but finally you got it RIGHT ! And here´s the complete solution to explain for those who did not get it: John has to number all of the bags from one to ten. Then he takes one coin from the bag numbered one, two coins from the bag numbered two, three coins from the bag numbered three, etc. He then puts all of these coins on the scale. From this one weighing he is able to determine which bag contains the fake coins. For example, if all the coins were real, the total weight would be 550 grams. If the bag numbered six contained the fake coins, the total weight would be 610 grams - ten extra grams for each fake coin. If the bag numbered two contained the fake coins, the total weight would be 570 gram This is the last one for me today before I got to bed... The dead body of John Smith, the famous American writer, lay slumped across his hotel room desk. His hand lay near an empty bottle of sleeping pills. A suicide note lay on the desk. "It's so strange," said the bellhop, "as I was carrying Mr. Smith´s bags he was talking excitedly about being in England. As a matter of fact, he said this was the first time he had ever been out of the U.S., and he was planning to write his next novel with London as the setting." The detective looked at the note. It read: "I have lost my will to live. My work has received all the honour it deserves. My writing was the centre of my life, but in retrospect, I suppose they're just trashy novels. As the colour fades from my eyes, I can only hope for a better life in the next world." Based on this, the detective concluded: "I'm sure Mr. Smith was murdered." Why?
  20. That´s again max. ten weighings. There´s only one weighing to find out...
  21. It doesn´t matter what scale it is. He has only one weighing and all coins have to be put on the scale at once.
  22. This is a very good idea but not the correct answer that I am searching for. At least he has not a scale for persons and concerning that he throws the bags after each other he would have made ten weighings. The same for Ken. Lifting up the bags one at a time would be also ten weighings only without the scale... So. TRY AGAIN...
  23. As I said. Short and easy. I think this is a new record. The RIGHT answer in 1 minute including typing. Well done Pugwash. OK one more... John has ten bags of coins which all look alike. One of the bags is filled with replica coins. All the genuine coins weigh 10 grams each and all the fake coins weigh 20 grams each. Each of the ten bags contain 20 coins. Using a scale which measures in grams, how would John be able to determine which bag contains the fake coins with only one weighing?
