  1. Just wanted to say a big thank you for all the info which members have imparted over the years!

    Let me explain.

I received my latest rep, from Joshua, last Thursday. A grey dial Chopard Mile Miglia GTXXL.

Delighted with the watch and have been wearing it every day since.

However, yesterday morning I picked it up to put it on and I heard a rattle. The watch was still running, so I reckoned it might not be too serious.

My first thought was that I'd need to get it posted to Domenico in Germany and get him to do a full service at the same time.

Then I remembered that I'd seen a post some time ago about a rotor coming loose.

I have a very basic set of watch tools, mainly for resizing bracelets, so I decided to take the caseback off and have a look. It couldn't do any harm if I was going to send it to Domenico anyway.

I hacked the movement and removed the eight caseback screws and lifted the back off.

Sure enough, the rotor screw was loose. I tightened it and replaced the caseback and it's as good as new.

Basically, in the past I would never have dreamt of opening a watch, let alone think that I might be able to repair something myself.

I know it was a very simple fix, in fact I've had more trouble with some bracelets, but it is a good example of how reading other members experiences increases your knowledge.

    Thanks again everyone.

  2. It is pretty much colourless, if there is actually any at all. And as others have said, it's definitely not double sided. However, the crystal does appear to be quite high quality, as stated on Joshua's site. Can't say that it causes any problems when looking at the dial and certainly not a reason not to buy one. IMO.

  3. But numbers on the bezel are correct? ..They are not centered

Just had a look at the gen on the Omega website and they don't look totally centered there either, which is cool.

The pearl is not great, but I've seen a lot worse.

The big tell is obviously the Liquid Metal logo on the back. It had put me off at first, but I thought "What the hell", it's still a bloody good rep and quite an improvement in quality from the previous version, from what I can gather from the forum. And obviously you can't see it unless you take it off!

The previous versions also had problems with the crown, but this one seems quite solid and the threads feel nice and smooth.

As I said on a previous post, I've wanted one of these for a long time and I'm happy with my purchase.

It is rep's we're buying, after all!

  4. I'm really itching for a new 45 pumpkin, but the LM logo is making me think I should go for the 42, but the thick lettering is putting me off that too!

Is the LM logo just printed and could it be removed and polished out, or is it engraved?

The lettering and the silver ring on the bezel look closer to the gen on the 45, but that damned LM logo!!

    Opinions guys, please?
